Sting

You know whats funny agabe-
there was definitely a time in my life where Id completely agree with you
about commercial artists being sell-outs.

...But after having many freinds who are top notch musicians- and going through it a bit myself, you start to think a bit differently.

See- people expect music should be free- they just go to youtube or whatever site and listen to it without paying anything- makes it impossible to earn any money selling recordings- not to mention how many less people go out to hear live music anymore.
So at this point- yeah- if I can have a commercial hit, bring it on- **CK me, Ill even put my FAT A** in Spandex pants if thats what it takes.

Umm, I'm not sure that'll be necessary...

Of course not! But I am imminently qualified to comment on the career of Sting or any other commercial artist as a consumer of commercial art myself. It really doesn't matter if it's the Citizen Kane of Christmas albums, it's still a sellout move! (See also: Peter Cetera.)

By the way, David Bowie's [i:88609da931]Little Drummer Boy[/i:88609da931] duet with Bing Crosby was not a sellout move. See how this works? I can do this all day!

Since Sting's last quality single was back when I lived in LA (I Dream of Rain... over a decade ago), I can assume that Adrian is correct, on general principle.

My personal taste says there were a few nice tunes on Sacred Love.
