Since we have time can we look further into this?? Jay's point is not only valid, it makes sense. I may value my prospect a LOT more than some 6th thru 10th rd FA pick that's basically a roster filler/fodder & even if that prospect has no card, I may rather carry that prospect over some meaningless FA pick that I'm seriously reaching for at a certain point during the draft.

Thanx & I hope we can look at this now that we have a window of opportunity to do so.

I'll throw in my opinion quickly:

I think the prospect promotions before the draft allow for more depth in the draft by making owners cut more players (as stated by WPW). This gives a more of an oppotunity to even out the playing field and owners can improve their team through the draft.

If you make an uneven trade and you have an open roster spot you are more than welcome to promote your prospect then, but doing this during the draft gives you the advantage of calling up your prospect as well as hanging on to a player the could have been in the draft pool.

For now, the rule is that you are only able to promote prospects before either of the two drafts. If you guys get 8 votes, we can change the rule. Right now it looks like only Rick and you have showed a preference toward changing the rule, with Ray and myself against it.

Let's postpone the due date of the drops until next Friday, the 23rd, as that will give us time to debate this and have a proper vote, as well as find out if Litangel will be returning. Also, this weekend will be very busy for me, and next weekend will be much freer.

Back to the riveting discussion of prospects:

John Then is also a proponent of prospect promotion during the draft.


If Kim comes back he probably would be in favor of it as well (based on Page 11).

Whatever the outcome, the rules need to be clear on page 1.



For what its worth my cuts will remain the same regardless of the outcome, unless we are using the Unleashed Cards.

I'll post a poll later. People will be able to revise their drops if we change the rules.

We are not using the unleashed set. I think it's better this way, but if people wanted to change that rule, we could as well.

Would you believe I agree with you that its better not to use the unleashed set, so I would not be calling for a poll for that issue.

I based my cuts on not using it so I did not want to assume anything. I don't think our rules specify the card set we use so it could come up in the future.

Re: new manager.

I think the rules state that the manager of the worst team of the previous season gets first crack at swapping teams with any team that is available due to the departure of that team's manager.
