All I can think is that you would have needed to make sure Tex and Melky are in the same "Group" and that Melky had the "Remove if Group Picked" dropdown set to "Yes". And then hit Save, of course...

Cal, they were in the same group, ranked 1 & 2 with no other proxies for the following round. Never had that happen before. I either wanted Tex or Melky as DH as my OF is set. I have had 6-8 guys proxied in a group without that happening. Hopefully it does not happen again. SGT D

Just FYI, this is my experience -- that's how I wound up with about eight starting pitchers a few leagues back.

For proxies, I now mark each player to be deleted from the list after that round is picked, even if I then have him in the next group. Example:
