do most of the monthly ATG6 starting pitching additions seem to be overpriced compared to the rest of the starting pitchers in the ATG 6 set?

Have not noticed. Though now that you bring this up I have tended to target more of the new hitters than the new pitchers.

Can you give some examples?

I'm hardly an expert, but I just tried the new Coombs card. Terrible WHIP for 9 million; he gives up almost as many hits as the similarly priced Chesbro and Joss, plus a ton more walks. At least that was my experience.

I'm curious if anyone has had a good season with the new Blackwell.

I do suspect to target some of the new pitchers later when they become less new and hot. Some are going higher on draft cards than I am comfortable, I suspect because they are new. As that dissipates I will be giving more of them a try.

Starting from the top of the salary scale, Hippo Vaughn and Carl Mays seem quite overpriced. Just compare Vaughn with the 9.8M Mathewson, for example. Mays is barely an 8M pitcher, much less worth 9.28, for example the 7.77M Walter Johnson is better than Mays.

I see your point, but aren't there often very specific traits that play a part in pricing?

I'm using that Coombs in 200mil, he's doing fine, not great numbers but not stinking up the joint, again 200mil where he could have ugly numbers. He has zero HRs on his card and only two 1-1 dice roll chances at extra base hits.

Doesn't all that come into play in setting his price? I mean yeah there sure looks like better pitchers for the same price, but can't that be said for dozens of pitchers?

You make an excellent case for Coombs. No HRs and almost no extra base hits. 8.9 does not seem an excessive price.

I would defend Mays with a similar argument. Matter of fact I dropped that Mays card for said Coombs card. I can't see either significantly out performing the other in Griff11, as my move was based upon strictly money.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought it was going to ask "Is it just me or does Blackwater Mudcats always leave a division once I join"

He usually leaves once I join and then jumps back in to a different division once mine is filled.

Well, that's exactly why I was eager to try Coombs. Maybe it's just my bad luck ... but on two teams he was averaging about five walks per 9 innings.

Coombs has six definite base running chances on his card; Joss and Chesbro have four. Coombs gives up no homers and a couple of 1-1 extra base hits; Joss and Chesbro have a 1-1 hr and a couple of 1-5 extra base hits.

Maybe that merits the same price ... But in the leagues I was in, I got frustrated by the extra runners given up by Coombs.
