The Method Behind The Madness

I appreciate everyone's sincere concern over my picks. Sorry I wasn't able to weigh in on the boards yesterday.

The lineup seems pretty logical to me, though:

Vs. RHP/Vs. LHP

c Hundley,N c-3(-1)e1,T-9(pb-2) 1R
1b Davis,I* 1b-2e5 7R ; Cuddyer,M rf-3(-2)e9 1b-3e8 2b-4e10 4L
2b Zobrist,B+ 2b-1e8 rf-2(-2)e1 2L
3b Ramirez,A 3b-4e16 2R
ss Tulowitzki,T ss-1e7 3L
lf Heisey,C lf-2(-1)e8 cf-3e8 rf-2e8 7R ; Martinez,J lf-4(+1)e3 rf-4e3 8L
cf Jones,A cf-2(-3)e9 4R ; Denorfia,C rf-2(-1)e7 lf-2e7 cf-2e7 4L

SO pleased to get Uggla this late as my DH vs. RH (Lee will take those chores vs. LH), a steal for a little over a buck, with a slew of HR in a park like Great American.

See no reason we can't finish this tomorrow! Set those proxies! I'm heading to L.A. for a couple days tomorrow, return Wednesday, love to see waivers run Thursday, but will deal with whatever.....

[quote:5cb8d9cf1c="moneymaze"]It really should only take one or two proxies per round for everyone, since we all have different budgetary limits and have to fill different holes.[/quote:5cb8d9cf1c]
Having said this, I now notice the following:

My team needs:
- 11th pitcher
- Backup catcher
- One more position player
- Stadium
And has $2.77 million left to spend.

Cal's team needs;
- 11th pitcher
- Backup catcher
- One more position player
- Stadium
And has $3.65 million left to spend. Clearly, the Strat-o-Matic gods are doing their best to bring me back down to earth.

EDIT: I've texted Mark to let him know the pick is over to him.

I like my team for Fenway and was happy to get Markakis on the 225th pick to platoon with Frenchy. I like the def except for Castro at SS. SGT D

Zinged Uptown, he's out at lunch at the moment, will pick when he gets back to the office.

Amazingly, that Murphy pick kinda hurt. If only Jesus Guzman had played some 3B for the Padres last year, instead of just their AAA-affiliate! He'd be a master utility guy!

Murphy's got a fairly high injury roll, and he's lousy defensively. (More so in the three-dimensional world -- if he can't cut it at second this year, the Mets will probably have to trade him to an AL team so he can DH.)

Guzman, however, is [i:bbef4ce89c]awful[/i:bbef4ce89c] at third -- fielding percentages in the minors included .894, .909, .851, .913, .926, and .896. The only position he hasn't been horrendous in the field is first base, but he doesn't have enough power to project there.

Roberts is a good choice -- Longoria will probably miss about 35 games due to injuries, so he'll play some at third, and could even platoon at second with Kipnis.

I love Jesus, but, yeah....I see his long-term career most likely as a DH for a bottom feeding AL-team like the Mariners or Orioles. Only real upside for him to stick around in San Diego for a few seasons is that he makes less than a million bucks a year and is genuinely one of their best hitters. Or at least he was last year. I'm pulling for him in reality -- he's been a battling underdog his whole life -- but I think he's probably overpriced for Strat this year.
