The Passing of Earl Scruggs

The Passing of Earl Scruggs

I know it has nothing to do with baseball, but if ever there was an all-time great, it had to have been Earl Scruggs. My, my could that man play the banjo! For those of you who just know Foggy Mountain Breakdown or the Beverly Hillbillies song, here's the Randy Lynn Rag:

A kind of Oscar Peterson of his 5 strings, a consumate musician who makes it look all too easy, with a supreme joy. There's almost a sort of Musial look to him: "gosh, did I do that? Well, golly", you can hear him say to himself.

RIP Mr. Scruggs.

RIP Earl. Sad news.

And nice youtube clip. BTW - Man, it sure is tough to look cool playing a dobro.

I think the fact I truly hate Bluegrass music and still listened to Scruggs because he was so damn good says a lot about his skill.
