Roster Assessment Please?

Postby lafayette1 » Sun Apr 01, 2012 4:56 pm

Any candid assessments of this roster? My division sports two bomber teams in Polo, and Forbes. Third team has two aces in Yankee'05. All three dominated by Righty hitters. Thanks in advance...!

Hopefully you have the first waivers pick.

Feel like you have too much money in too few players. Ruth and Johnson are ~30% of your total budget. Add Torre and Maddux and you're at 37+M/80M on 4 guys. Which leads to a CF with a 2+2...

That doesn't seem workable to me, as it put you with scrubs pitching half the time, and a lot of fairly empty at bats.

Why are you paying for Callison's RF-1 when you are going to have to play him in LF as a 3?

Why are you spending $6 million for a leadoff DH? Gary Matthews or Roy Thomas can do the same job for half the price. Johnny Temple is already on your roster, and he's not bad, either.

There are LH LF who hit lefties pretty well, and you get the rating you pay for. Barney McCoskey is a real good leadoff guy, who comes in two sizes. Or, you can grab McCoskey, use Reggie '80 as a DH, and use Callison's rf-1.

Then you can grab a cheap DH, save money in two positions without seriously weakening your team, and spend the excess on upgrading your rotation. You really should spend at least $22-23 million on your pitching staff at $80 million.

Thanks...made a mistake with the calison deal...but those two leadoff suggestions have great OBP, but 1-10 speed at the leadoff...? Kind of defeats the purpose, no?

bench's #hrs are a waste in shea and he's a pb5. might want to go with brett's 79card and use the cash from bench and brett to upgrade pitching. not sold on andujar in shea?
