NLD 30 - Smell the glove!

Postby bigmahon » Sat Apr 14, 2012 6:44 am

Well, my team is gonna hit some HR's. Either DT or I will lead the league in bombs. But I have the opposite problem Stoney. No speed and low team OBP. So my team pitching will determine my fate. Hopefully the two aces at the top of the rotation can carry me.

Kershaw and Cain, then pray for rain. Modern remake of an old classic. 8-)

AT's losses vs. Me = 4
Vs. rest of Div = 1

Somebody else needs to knock him off. :P

Big A, I saw that! Pretty amazing actually.

Semper, that would be one expensive beer for me to get for "free" ;)

My entire team has 15 SBs

I may lead the league in SBs allowed thanks to having the only LHSPs with +5 holds

Joe - I'd get you a 500ml plus cold one

It is worth the trip

Maybe the Merlot team owes me a beer seeing it rolled less than a 1/3 of the outcomes in 1st game of the series on my pitchers' card.

Hey Semp,

I'll take a rain check.

As for the die rolls. I'm sure you'll get yours.

After home and away in the division, it appears a typical NLD is shaping up with every team except the defending champ and Stones within a couple games of first. Big M and AT are living at the opposite ends of one runners to explain a bit of the difference.

Beasts of the Easts

Postby Semper Gumby » Sun Apr 15, 2012 9:23 pm

Any chance the happy run scoring teams from the Easts will find their pitching groove?

It ain't like we went cheap on pitching

Interesting season so far indeed. Concerned about getting buried early in the West, but there are some good reasons to be optimistic.

Joe, agreed, the 1 run thing is my x factor at the moment. I'm getting a ton of quality innings from Aceves, but still dropping too many close ones late. As a result I am significantly underperforming my pythag projection.

Still, my squad is currently 4th best in hitting [b:01b1a1f8d8]and[/b:01b1a1f8d8] pitching. Cain has underwhelmed thus far, and I don't expect that to continue. My lineup is crushing the ball, and I don't see that stopping. So I expect my record to correct itself in the not too distant future.

Key pressure points:

1. OBP - currently sitting at .316, which is far too low. Far too many of my league leading HRs are solo shots. Earl Weaver would not be happy...

2. Cain - 0-4 with a 5.55 ERA? Really?? Worse yet he's getting mauled by LHB, whom he should own...

3. Edwin Jackson - so far so good for the .69m cheapy SP. 27 IP for a 2.30 ERA works for me. I know it won't last at that level, but if he can keep us in the game fo 5 innings to get to Aceves every 4th day we'll be ok

Hey Big M, Well, you don't have very good OB v RHP and it's not *that* much better v LHP, so I dont' expect you'll be at the top of the league in OB.

I *would* expect your one run record to change however.

Chief,

Well, DT isn't going to pitch well and he's going to score runs so that's going to skew things a bit. OTOH Big A should pitch well and I think we're much better than we've been. Your pitching looks at least middle of the pack. We'll see how things evolve. What did the Sims say?
