Mathews '53

my only complaint is i can't get arky and eddie on the same team! :x negro league cards are really like the old hall of fame card set. one side had the players best season and the other side was a career card.

Just for the record.

my only complaint is we can't use aluminum bats, whats up with that.
If you can't get Arky and Eddie on the same team, how about Eddie, Bagwell and Bill Dickey on the same team? Nice combo, I have in Goldrush. Eddie has 67 singers, Bags has 58 and Dickey 58 with 20 games left.
I am happy. 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

This is not real baseball anyway. I LOVE THE GORILLA BALL.

Just to wake up Macnole with something here on an early Saturday morning. Get him up and fired up.

Well, I had spicki in my division--look him up... and/or look at the league.
I only play against quality opponents and try to be selective when I see who signs up, so as not to get kriff'd, hence the limited number of teams since 2003 under my two names.

Are you good or something?
What's your winning percentage? And level of competition to achieve it?

I didn't realize your statement had a caveat of a level of competition--which is determined by....what? Volume of teams played?

The 100 error thing you mentioned is pretty arbitrary--especially since it greatly depends on the type of team. A small ball team at 80 mil--maybe true what you assert.

But the errors on the fielding rating don't have a direct correlation statistically to the game engine exactly. Use catchers, for example.

BTW--I was saying that T-i-C...your 522 win % and greater than 50% playoff appearances are easily known...but I think that is really good regardless of who you are playing

I was making the observation that all of the teams have hitting and pitching with the expanded card set, the margin for winning or losing might be determined by fielding - sure you can win rings with error bound teams, but I think this is something that can be exploited iand this can usually be done in weaker leagues. In a playoff, anything can happen and we know the best team doesn't always win, same as in real life. I'm looking for that consistent winning formula!

BTW, I'm not that good - I just get consistently lucky  Seriously. I accidentally build decent teams and some of my teams really suck. It is just now that I am asking these types of questions. Looking at Weinbergs teams I have noticed that he is exploiting this and he is pretty good.'

Mathews is over priced

Postby Badjam » Wed Apr 25, 2012 4:56 pm

I'd take Beckwith over Mathews any time, any park.
108 games, 414 ABs, .225 avg, 9 doubles.
9th in the league in HRs
18th in the league in RBI
29th in the league in SLG
36th in the league in OPS

Link is in my earlier post. 140mil league in Yankee 71.

Mathews is five for his last 53. He is hitting .197 against rightys on the season after 279 at bats. That card is way too good.

After 114 games- OPS of .859. He's a bum.

6 games left to play, playing in Ameriquest '05, $100m cap. Mathews has been a monster!

86 HRs, 190 RBI, .321 BAVG, 1.233 OPS. MORE than worth the money.
