I heard a very touching story yesterday on a radio talk show about the Moose; apparently he was traded to the Dodgers to make room for Joe Pepitone in 1963.

Moose had a homer and three RBI in the WS helping the Dodgers sweep and when his very close friend Yogi Berra went to him after the game he found him in tears. Yogi thought of course they were tears of joy upon winning another title but Moose said to him, "These are tears of sadness - I helped beat my Yankees!"

Larry Bowa was the guest on the radio that related this anecdote - thought it worth sharing.

Moose signed a ball for my son a few years ago at US Cellular - he did it with a smile on his face and he engaged my son in a quick fun conversation. One heckuva guy. RIP Moose.

It's never any fun to see the passing of a fellow Moose. :(

A really nice guy. When ever he talked on the radio he sounded just like a guy from the "old neighborhood " which is what he was!
