Is that kid fun to watch or what?

Brings a new meaning of hustle to the game.

You can tell he hasn't been "paid" yet.

I suspect if his all out style of play was motivated by some day getting "paid" he would be more careful about running in to walls or other activities that could get him injured and reduce that eventual paycheck.

Mr. Regulator is right, the fans in Washington are lucky they get to watch the kid every day.

If some day he gets paid like one of the best players in the game... well that might be because he is one of the best players in the game. The negotiated rules of the CBA say right now he has to wait to get "paid" and the club benefits and the team pays a lot less than he is worth based on performance. So what would be wrong about Washington fans expecting the team to bank some of that money and pay him well when he is eligible? People can whine about players being "paid" but there is not one of us who would not take the money.

He is fun to watch, but I'm going to have to see more than a week or two to be sold. Us folks in SW Missouri got to hear about the second coming of Musial in the person of Colby Rasmus....the test for Harper will be adjusting to the pitchers as they adjust to him. No easy feat in the National League East.

But man, he is fun to watch. 8-)

Yeah...that league minimum of $480K/yr is paltry. Can't imagine anyone living on that, but somehow I hope he will manage. :D

I'm a Phillies phan, and I love the guy. I wish he wore red pinstripes.

I'd settle for his $100 a day meal money.

I shoot sports for a paper here in Syracuse. I "stalked" him for three weeks trying to get a photo of his first HR. I have more bryce harper photos than anybody but his mother right now. When he hit it, I was in Barnes and Noble drinking coffee because it was a makeup game and I wasn't going to be able to get to the park until the second game. A buddy who knew of my quest called to tell me I didn't need to rush out for the second game. He called while the crowd was still cheering in the background. Nobody else in town got it either though. Whew.

That aside, the kid can swing a bat -- he made a lot of hard outs here -- and run and throw. He's a little inexperienced as an outfielder, but that will come and nobody will mind too much while he's learning. He had a bad rap for his attitude, but didn't show any negative behavior here. He was personable and willing to chat from the dugout to the photo well.

On the downside, the mullet must go.
