He may be "colorful" and "eccentric" ...

Not true at all.

It would be [b:8972860742]"labeled"[/b:8972860742] racist by people like you that judge what its like to be in everyones shoes when you've only been in yours....Now don't get me wrong..it damn well could be racist, probably would be racist...but not necessarily.... But apparently you'd be happy to jump to that conclusion without any context.

Wow. This thing flared back up again. But like one of those forest fires, that you think are all done, but then some ember somewhere sparks back into life... Metaphorically speaking, of course.

This issue with Boggs, made me think about how politicians do the walk around the truth thing, by being very specific about what they didn't say and when -- I don't recall ever speaking badly about Philadelphia fans while I was on the Broad Street subway (Philly subway line). That, and how we are inclined to believe or disbelieve people based on half-a**ed preconceptions.

And ya know. We all suffer from both of those.

That's very subtle. I graduated 6th grade a long time ago. One day, I hope to be as informed as Beer Can Boyd. And you of course.

You missed the point. IF it WERE so uttered, it WOULD be labeled as racist by the media and the majority of those who heard it, including the NAACP. Guaranteed. If you think otherwise, you live a sheltered existence. A white dude saying "the negro leagues should have remained separate".

Well, of course equal, right? Pfft.

One thing you might think on is how racism can be objective, when its the most subjective thing on the planet.

Yup. Exactly what I said...not what you said though.

I see the problem now. You can't distinguish between something "being racist" and something being "labeled racist".

You know, this reminds me of a performance appraisal I had to give to a young middle manager.

His previous supervisors were very "subtle" about what he needed to do to succeed. He never quite knew what his priorities were, nor that half the things he did revealed a lack of emotional intelligence (in the name of Daniel Goleman) and he was perceived as self-serving.

As I have with the nearly 150 people in my organization, albeit not all of them directly of course, I gave him direct, actionable feedback.

He responded in spades. Complete turnaround. Now a professional who cares for his people, instead of a self serving arse.

Subtleties are for those devoid of courage and hand-wringers.

I don't even want to bring up the obvious racist comments from Nev in the past. Hmmm...do I need to prove it? Nah. Just saying it since it's true from my persepctive. Who needs a basis for their accusations.

Im sorry but ignoring something just because its not obvious to you or others doesnt make it any less true.

Labeling it as hand-wringing or cowardly similarly doesnt make it any less true.
