A rhetorical question and a regular one, too.....

1. Why do some players INSIST on joining a 1000 and under league when they don't quite conform to the standard??? And I don't mean to be overly critical, but there really isn't an acceptable argument to "bend" the rule. I'll accept an opposing view, but the applicable quote would be "If I agreed with you, then we'd both be wrong!"

2. New league forming - not complete yet.........I've got mail, but damned if I can figure out how to get to it.

Just to go on record, I really enjoy SOM, and the players here. Took a hiatus - am now back - and it's just a GREAT GAME!!! Hate sounding like a nattering nabob of negativity! Three hot dawgs to the first one who can remember who said that! And he actually wasn't on steroids, but was a complete idiot!

The easiest way is to click on the little letter/mail icon that shows up when you're visiting the board. (I think it shows up on the left-hand side toward the top.)

The other way is to log on from the forums and then click on your user name. There is a [i:a875a6fc95][u:a875a6fc95]Private Message Inbox[/u:a875a6fc95][/i:a875a6fc95] link in the upper right-hand corner under Utilities.

If you would like only players under 1000 start a private league by getting players to join like they do the theme leagues. Give them the password and only them.
If a player had 980pts when signed up and just won a league they would now have 1020pts after. You get 20 from making the post season and 40 for winning.

I agree with you on wondering why a +1000 guy would sign up for a league that clearly states it is for <1000 pt managers. It's really just a case that people should exercise common courtesy when the sign up for leagues.

I don't think setting up a private league is the answer either, unless you have 11 other managers you know are interested already.

I think PM-ing someone who clearly is overqualified, and asking that they sign up for a different league is about the only way to manage it.

Thanks for answering my rant, all! Common courtesy is by far what I'm thinking - - - but Dr. Smith has it for the nattering nabob attribution!!! It was really Spiro, the disgraced VP who could only be there due to the more disgraced President. What a time in history, huh???
