Are you talking about the Wilson-CarGo trade or the Benoit trade? I would not have traded CarGo for Wilson straight up, much less adding in a 1st rd pick, but what do I know :?: . Everybody values players differently and my .500 SOMO record with 1 champ in 34 tries shows I'm not an expert. 8-)
My thinking with the Benoit trade was- he is a 34 yr old rp, good last yr, ok so far this yr. My team is probably not going to contend in either season this year so his good 2011 isn't doing me much good. My experience with relievers is not to value them much, no matter how good they were irl the nature of SOMO (dice, 50% chance of results from hitter card) means even the best reliever's results are unpredicteable. The 3rd rd pick will probably get me a comparable rp or a more useful position player.
Colvin-Mayberry- Mayberry was good last year but has been underwhelming for me and is not doing much irl (he did homer last night, he'll probably get hot now that I traded him). Colvin is obviously useless for 2011 but has been pretty good in 2012 and long term may turn out to be at least a good 4th OF. I have Trumbo and Cuddyer to replace Mayberry for 2012.
I received no other offers for Benoit & Mayberry, suppose I could have waited longer to see if I any better offers came along but when I put out that players are available and get no response I figure not much interest.
