JakeBradley, you are not wrong. However, to use your analogy, one does not hire a single person to install the plumbing for an office building.
Yet, TSN always seemed to expect that one man could fix the toilet, put down a new floor, paint the walls, repoint the chimney, do all the landscaping, upgrade the electrical system, install a security system, and field all customer calls.
Blame Bernie for things, yes. But praise him for working in a situation that must be less than ideal.

I defend Bernie because--as I said before--the reality is IT changes seem to always have unexpected complications and almost always take longer than expected. THIS IS REALITY. EVERYWHERE.

This jumping up and down whining that I'm paying so this shouldn't happen is silly and naive.

Another thought is Bernie has to give an optimistic estimate in case things do go without complication. If he had promised Wednesday and it was ready Monday, he couldn't launch before Wednesday. "Welcome back, everyone. Your teams played two series while you were away."

PS. I used to work my old company's (IT) Help Desk. When we had an outage, I would usually give customers the official estimate and follow that up with a more realistic estimate based on experience. Once in a while the official estimate was right on--but not often. We had some really good people, too. It's just the nature of the beast.

We all have the right to complain, and to complain about the complainers, and to complain about the complainers complaining about the complaints. To me, insulting goes beyond complaining, but there's no complaints about complaining about a missed promise. Just understand the circumstances, and the ramifications of an on-time release with unresolved bugs.
