Credit/Criticism

[quote:7bf535bc06]I, for one, use my own lack of knowing the machinations of TSN or SOM, as a reason to refrain from making assumptions and assertions about why an individual may or may not do something. [/quote:7bf535bc06]That seems like a reasonable approach.

Time Warner Cable and AT&T/Ameritech are insulted at the implications that someone else has worse customer service.

LOL, I've heard that.

You know who has good customer service? Directv. Seriously.

Thursday night my HDDVR took a giant dump in my living room. Right in front of the wife, kid, and dog. I called CS, they diagnosed the problem. Rendered it unfixable. And I had a new box on Saturday morning. Took about 20 minutes to get it up and running. Cost me $20 in S&H charges.

Can't think of a single thing ot complain about.

[quote:9ba9239805="Novie"]Speaking of the two (credit/criticism) I offer the following.

2. The most poignant point I have seen, in my humble opinion, in the arena of criticism is the fact that this new system should have been tested with mock leagues for a week or so before planning the roll-out. Some of us have been used as beta-testers in the past to aid in uncovering bugs prior to a roll-out. This, for whatever reason and to whomevers discredit, was a major dropping of the ball.[/quote:9ba9239805]

This is spot on. Having been through a complete operating system change about 7 yrs ago at work, this was done. We went from a software system on our own servers to a web-based product, both of which were to maintain clients' files (insurance agency software). We ran the old and new systems concurrently for 3 months before we went 'live' with the new system. Our service people had to duplicate EVERY transaction, one in the old system and one in the new.

A lot of extra work but it 1) guaranteed that transactions were secure, 2) helped find the bugs in the new system (and there were PLENTY), and 3) gave the service staff real life experience with the new system.

I don't hold any of this against Bernie. I think he's busier than a one-legged man in an asskicking contest and has little or no help. I said somewhere else in the forum that I'm expecting a July startup for the new site... that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Guys just relax. Whats the big deal? It comes back when it comes back. Even if thats August or May of 2013 it'll eventually be up, so you should just stop complaining. Even if it never comes back we are so lucky that som, tsn and Bernie were nice enough to let us give them our money for this privilege of playing strat o matic. So just get a life already geez!
