Actually, I have seen this trade successfully executed many times in ATG II.

With the expanded player pool, the quality of the early picks remains top shelf. It is not uncommon for someone in the first four to trade down and get their first two picks close together [b:3e4545bb5d]IF[/b:3e4545bb5d] they have two players they really want to build around and they are worried about the second still being on the board by the time it gets back to them late in Round 2. This trade goes down much more often in $80 million leagues than in $100 million leagues where cap space isn't so much of an issue.

Anyway, it goes for naught. I wasn't worried about the second pick. I was hoping to take the greatest CF of all time before Nevdully scooped him up. :D

I was hoping Nev would bypass temptation and take Yount, one of his favorites. But alas, he took the Say Hey Kid away from me. So, I had to take Yount, just out of spite! :P

You can't pass on Mays or yount for that matter. Like I said before it is kind of nice being so far down, process of elimination defines your picks for the most part. The slow draft portion is always real slow. I will be gone today for awhile, hopefully I don't hold you guys up.

I see we're off to a bit of a slow start but we have plenty of time to draft six slow rounds before the Qick Draft. I'm sure after we get through this first round things will move along better. I'm still away from home and will be limited on when I can check-in until Sunday. I'll try to check-in around noon eastern and early morning eastern until I return home.

Mark I would have made that trade, I like my chances better with the lower first round pick and the quick second pick, but this time I have a lower pick.

i was tempted to grab Mays but my last team he was on, he never hit above .230 and his OBP never got above .305 for the whole season. i looked at the other teams i had him on and he just didn't produce offensively for me like he should, even in hitters parks like Baker and Polo. Hornsby on the other hand has been outstanding on all my teams. i just don't think Willie likes me. =/

Hornsby is a crush machine. All the picks so far could have easily been the first pick in any draft.

I agree Beach-man, though I had hornsby on a recent team that was sucking (in Fenway '67) with Mantle and Ruth, he was hitting around .290 with 7 HR's after about 40 games or so, :? only time he hasn't produced for me, though he could have. But traded him for Campy and gordon, team is doing better. Enough rambling, I want to make my pick, lot's of great guys left. :D
