How about this:
1. We do a lottery of some sort to assign each manager 2 positions/stadium to fill for each of the other 11 teams.

This will give each team a total of 22 players. And each other team will contribute to their demise.

2. The 22 positions/stadium as follows:
1 each for C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF
1 utility infielder (has at least 2 inf positions listed)
2 outfielders (have a least 2 of positions listed)
2 utility players (have at least 3 positions on card both if and of)
3 starters
2 starter/relievers
3 relievers
1 stadium

3. We randomly determine a "draft order" and begin to screw our neighbors.

3. After the draft, each manager can remove 2 names (not the stadium) from their team to leave them with a 19 player roster.

4. We autodraft the remaining players for the roster.

I don't know if we can logistically pull this off, but someone could keep a player grid in Excel and keep track of the players selected and update the boards periodically. It would take a while, of course.

Other thoughts:

I wonder about usage limits or some other assurance that the players you get in the draft must play or at least take up space on your roster. It would be hard to track.

I think we should be able to make roster changes, since thats one aspect of the game that I like.

We could have some teams that have a good deal of money to spend on waiver moves. Should we set a maximum dollar amount for player values (like the $4 league is doing)???

I hear you parkav.

The numbers make it work with the 11 other owners picking 2 players each for you. Then autodraft the other three, no drops, no waivers, trades allowed?

I guess I was thinking - what if I get a bad card - not thinking that all these cards should be bad!!

We gotta make this happen!

Also, how do we assign the 2 teams/positions to each owner?; how do we arrange the draft so no one is selected twice?

I wouldn't object to one park, but my position listing from earlier also includes a stadium. Theoretically, whoever picks the stadium for you could see what players you have and then really screw you. If we all use the same stadium, we could simply select another pitcher.

I'm not following your draft scenario. Could you explain further?

Sorry I'm slow! :?

I think so, I would probably catch on once I saw a couple of picks.

Theoretically, your scenario allows the draft to fill up one team completely, right? I don't think this would happen, but I guess it could. Any danger to that?

one thing that comes to mind though,is the league minumum of salaries...gotta keep that in mind.maybe with the addition ofthe 3-4 picks of the owners it will get the overall pricetags up.

incorporate into it,picking players by price. Pick a certain no. of 4 mil.players,3 mil. players , 2 mil, and 1 and under mil players...might be getting a little too complicated but just tryin to bang out the quirks.... :?

as rutkap said on another thread

Postby roofinghorse1 » Wed Mar 29, 2006 8:34 pm

what about incorporating a scenario into the screw picks:

1 5-6 mil.player
1 4-5 mil. player
and so on.

there,s a few so called duds that fit this description such as z.smith, e.plunk and so on.

there are 183 players i think under 1 mil.
" " 56 players1-2 mil.
" " 122 " 2-3 mil.
" " 108 " 3-4 mil.
" " 64 " 4-5 mil.
and 62 ---5-6 mil. players.

surely there can be something said of balancing between a screwed team and money....

whadda ya think? gettin in too deep here?or can it be worked out?
