2005 nickel and dime starters

Postby bomp helium » Thu Mar 30, 2006 2:55 pm

p's right of course...anyone who ever used "performance enhancing supplements" in any sport should be banished and their careers deleted...leaving us with, uh...Buddy Biancalana?

and if it's found that any SOM managers are actually using COFFEE to supplement their performance...well, BANISHED...(unless they fork over another $25 bucks)...

it's too bad you guys want to destroy Bonds...he's beautiful to watch...there's so much more to the man than whatever supplements he and everyone else may or may not have been taking...as anyone who's ever been in a locker room knows, steroids cannot hit a baseball...that's eye-hand coordination, focus, meditation, knowledge, wisdom, skill, patience, poker, yoga, chi, physics...steroids are (were) something used across american society to help the body heal more rapidly from injuries...if they're harmful, they should be banned, and let's move on...

and, please, let me know when they autopises are done after exhuming Frank Howard and Rocky Colovito...I'm sure what they were using makes steroids look like pop-tarts...

Check out Kerry Wood

Postby askaufman » Thu Mar 30, 2006 4:53 pm

One of the huge surprises for my team so far has been Kerry Woods. I planned to use him as a spot starter but have now moved him into my rotation. His stats? 4-0, 26 IP, 13 hits, 35 Ks and 1.01 ERA in Bank One for the astounding price of 1.75 mil. Maybe just an anomaly but check him out. He's doing ten times better than prior who I paid 4.5 for. :D

That's true--Bonds has hand-eye coordination. But the ball sure as heck goes a lot further when the guy swinging the bat is juiced. And anybody who still puts the word "alleged" in front of the phrase "steroid use of Bonds" is itching to be sold the Brooklyn Bridge.

The guy's a bum. He's a disgrace to the game and the names Maris, Aaron, Ruth. Ban him.

Course that's just my opinion.....I could be wrong..........

Barry gets all the attention because...

Postby ROBERTVOZZA » Fri Mar 31, 2006 1:18 pm

He is such high profile...If they banned everyone who has used the juice in baseball, you'd lose a minimum of 25% of the players - even ones with nice personalities.

If everyone in the game used steroids - leveling that part of the playing field, Barry would still be the games best hitter because of his workout regimen, dedication, focus and talent. He is THAT good. It would just create a bigger pool and more players would be swimming in higher stats.

I am not advocating steroid use, nor defending breaking the rules. If you are lazy and take steroids and don't put in the workout time in the gym, you don't get that much better.

Barry broke the rules(As did many others) and deserves some form of retribution. But I never hear the ragging about Mark MCGuire, Sammy Sosa or many of the others who used. Barry has a contemptuous relationship with the media (Which is his right) and they have made everyone hate him much more than he deserves.

Everyone who has used has lied. And just as it is unfair to the players who never used, it is unfair to single anyone out. Anyone who is guilty should admit, apologize and pay whatever retribution is deemed fair. But the rules should apply to everyone and all should be judged the same. So if that retribution is being banmned from the game, then they all must go with him - Including all of your favorite players.

I also do not think Barry Bonds is a bum.

Goes to Show You

Postby JohnnyBlazers » Fri Mar 31, 2006 3:09 pm

what comes around, goes around. If Barry wasn't such an arrogant jerk all these years, maybe the media wouldn't have dogged them like they do. Of course steroids help you hit a baseball-the argument about needing hand-eye coordination is just minimizing the impact. Of course the juice helps. If Barry wasn't closing in on the records, I don't think the steroid issue would be getting as much attention. But the fact is he hit HR's at an astronomical rate AFTER the age of 35, that if he weren't on the stuff he wouldn';t have gotten near the records. He needs to quit and go away!
