I know I'm a little late her and I'm sure that this has been discussed, but what is up with the absence of th e"avoid before th e9th" setting in 2006?

More reader friendly punctuated and typo-less version:

I don't know the story on it but it's one of the changes listed for 2006 "due to redundancy" whatever that means. I found that using that setting last year was a good way to hide a bad reliever so that he would rarely play and this was a way to get my other (much better) relievers in the game for more innings.

it is in an effort to force people to use more life like bullpens, no more using 1-3 rp's only.

Redundancy, because if you closer setting is set to maximize, and one guy is selected as closer, he won't be coming in before the 9th anyways. Therefor redundant.

Though we did talk Bernie into allowing 2 pitchers set as not before 8th, so close enough! This was for people like me, who use Jenks + Ayala
