My initial reaction to $100m league concept (my first time in the salary range).
[b:ab779eca37]I'm no fan of it. [/b:ab779eca37]
I cheer for a middle market team (Indians - maybe a small market team budget) so I probably have a skewed sense of salaries / budgets.
Frankly, I'd rather play with player usage restrictions (more realistic) than sporting $1.5m bench players at every position. As one who tried several injury prone teams in 2003, I am more than open to carrying a little salary on the bench.
If anything, I sense the outcome is now more on dice (if everyone has a nuke, why build a bomb shelter) than pulling together some synergies between raw OBP and clutch hits.
Notwithstanding the drafting portion of picking pricey players, I didn't see much to the draft before the first eight (8) rounds. While my draft didn't set any new trends in team composition, I would have enjoyed finding those few $2m hitters that make the difference in a season, e.g., Pedro Feliz.
[b:ab779eca37]I'm not sure how this concept did for the early NLD 2004 seasons but I may pass on it the next time. [/b:ab779eca37]
