LOTO 2006 WARMUP LEAGUE...

Timo Perez or Tomas Perez in 2B?

Tough question, I guess you are seeing lots of righties, at least I hope so with Beltre on now.

How much of BP depth did you need? are we talking from mostly scrubs to having a stellar BP or from Stellar to the magna-cum-laude of BPs.

I've only played Bonds Once and Beltre once. I think that the way Rob put it is quite acurate, on the other hand I think Tomas Perez is a 3 in 2B right?...in a high OBP enviroment with an 85% chance of BPHRs making it the porous defense would've likely creamed your pitching...and with all those ameriquests...tough to go with low D, tthough I've read lately of how some players think defense is overrated I still think that more often than not it (bad D) will come back to bite you in the tukus.

So, what do I think? I would've tried to keep bonds and fish me Pokey Reese in 2B...if not maybe Willie Harris/ Neifi Perez...but if the team is going to have holes because of Bonds...then I'd, drop rolen, pick up Cantu and do the Hoochie Coochie

I think Big said right a while ago, Bonds can actually be underpriced but it is to tough to balance the team with his high salary on

Good luck Stoney

Talk about the ignorance of censorship, I can't write magna-cüm-laude because it is a dirty word...oooooh those dirty academic terms they are sooooooo insulting we should ban them altogether

Tomas, so he's 2e11. Just no bat. BP was Kolb, Mahay and cannon fodder with no stud pitcher. Went with a 7 man BP and trying aggressive relief.

Yes, there will be mostly righties so I think Beltre will do alright.

The other bad thing is that Bonds is in my division.

Oh well, I was pretty lucky to make it to the final league. We'll see what happens.

What Park are you in? Can you post a link to the Finals link? Having Mahay is the next best thing to having Ryan, but for almost 2M less. R2 LH RP are the most difficult commodity to get. But there are plenty of RH RP's to help out.

With all those hitters Parks, I'd go with a hard RSP and a hard LSP coupled with hard revs on each side. Have your 2 best SP's be close to the middle E or 1L or 1R. (Madritsch, Garcia, Peavy etc.) All w/ low or no BP HRs.

Then you can use cheap Hard 1 side RP's(ie. Brower, Fultz types set on avoid the weak side and quick hook to get tough outs in the middle innings - with Mahay to setup the leftside and a decent R2 with even to 2R balance to set up the rightside. Then you can either go with 1 decent 2 sided closer or 2 cheapo closers with the right side able to come in in the 8th.(Like Smoltz, Tavarez or Dotel or Mesa or Wickman - depending on budget - with somebody like Rincon set on 9th inning, avoid RH as your closer vs the leftside.) IMO, this is the formula for hitters Parks.

I never vary from it. Pitching staffs between 20-27M allow you to keep players like Bonds with good cheap OBA ahead of him. and good power behind him. I also like Wilk WAY better than Berkman because he can field 3 pos. hits BOTH sides better and keeps you out of DP's. And he's 3M less.

Oh well, so much for comments from the Peanut gallery, plus these might have been better suggestions prior to the season commencing. Just some thoughts. Hope none of it was obvious or insultiung to your intel. Rob

Not insulting at all. I asked for and welcome all opinions.

I guess I'm stubborn enough to try what I think works and then get feedback instead of having everyone tell me what to do. I do read all of those posts to get ideas though.

I'm in Ameriquest. That's why I did Ameriquest in the HPCC League which seems to be working out alright for now.

It's still early...

I still barely know these players. Usually I play in a couple of unknown AD's before I graduate to LOTO Type Vets...But I have so thoroughly enjoyed the company of this group of players that I actually ended up playing 3 more 05' Leagues and decided to jump right in and get stomped early...

I hate leagues where nobody communicates with each other and you send trade offers and nobody responds...AND if they do, its a simple decline. No comments. But this group - which the nucleus started in a Vets/Rooks league that Tyber started and has joined forces with the LOTO GROUP is the chattiest bunch of players ever. It definitely makes it more enjoyable - At the least for myself.

Well I thought I had put together a pretty decent inexpensive pitching staff but dang! Chacon and Hudson are just getting clobbered!

We lost two of three lastnight but it wasn't from a breakdown in the bully or lack of offense, it was the starters getting killed early and the team having to play catch up all night that did us in.

On a good note, at least the bats woke up abit lastnight.

Well I have to say that, other than my team getting worked over like a rented mule, I'm really enjoying the 06' card set...

Now if you'll please excuse me whilst I go throw my computer out the window.
