I'm clueless......

Our historical single season sets

I'm clueless......

Postby centerfielder17 » Sun Apr 02, 2006 8:35 am

After being shutout for about the 9th time in 40 games, I need some advice! My pitching staff is doing the job, but the 1-0 losses are killing me. I'm thinking that my lineup may need some juggling to better maximize its potential.

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

See what you think of these lineups.

vs LHP
DH Wills
2B Clarke
CF Tolan
LF Howard (low e rating)
3B McMullen
RF Kaline (better suited for power park)
1B Oliver
C Freehan
SS Belanger

vs RHP
SS Belanger
CF Uhlaender (a 2 in CF)
1B Oliver
DH Howard
3B McMullen
RF Tolan (his best defensive position)
C Freehan
LF Tartabull (his card is virtually the same as Kaline vs RHP)
2B Clarke
LMBombers

Thanks for the advice. I'm not in a DH league, but I did sub Kaline out in the RH line up and move Clarke to the #8 spot. We'll see what happens.

Too bad I can't find a spot for Willis against LH's!

Here's another suggestion:

vs. LHP
Belanger (good OBP w/decent speed)
McMullen  (very good OBP, also some pop to move Belanger along)
Howard
Clarke  (good power against LHPs)
Tolan  (good power against LHPs, too)
Freehan
Kaline
Oliver

Some unconventional choices, but that's what the cards are saying to me. :)

vs. RHP
Belanger (same as above)
McMullen (not quite as compelling as against LHPs, but still the best 2nd place hitter IMO)
Howard
Oliver (best power other than Howard)
Tolan (decent pop against RHPs)
Freehan
Kaline
Clarke

I edited my original post after I noticed my original suggestion for the #2 spot against RHPs (Kaline) has a ton of DP grounders on his card. Then I noticed that several other candidates also had a lot of DPs. That may be part of your problem--is your team as a whole grounding into lots of DPs?

Thanks Dave. Good call on McMullen, his OBP so far is .403 vs LH. I'll give it a go!
