Anyone ready to tackle a Franchise theme league?

Our historical single season sets

Pick the franchise of your choice and you must keep the top 20 highest salaried palyers on your roster. You can keep more if you like but you must keep the top 20.

Your remaining salary cap will be filled in via live free agent draft of players on teams not being used in this league. We will have 8 rounds to fill rosters. So you can play your team with a pat hand or draft 1-8 free agents to help your team compete with the power houses. The free agent draft will start in reverse order of what your salary cap is after freezing your top 20 highest priced players.

Any interest?

1. Genegrid---San Francisco
2. Sykes -- NY Yankees

As an example, the Giants team roster is at 26 with a total cost of $70.15. If I drop the bottom six my salary is now at $67.15. I would have $12.85 to draft 4-8 free agents. Remember that I can drop the bottom six in my case or keep a few of them. I have to keep the top 20 and I have to stay within $80 million when all is said and done.

I was interested in doing Baltimore, but the top 20 players for Baltimore = over $90 million in salary, how would that be handled?

I had not considered this. If you want to go with BAL, you will have to use only their players and stay under $80. We can allow you a few .50 free agents for back ups if necessary.

Hak,

You could drop Etch, Watt and Rettenmund and fill in with 4 .50 free agents as one example.

Geekor, that would still leave Baltimore about $5 million over, one of the higher priced players beyond Merv would have to go.

No DH in this league??

The only three solutions that I can see would be:

1) to force whoever took Baltimore to eliminate players such that they replace them with .50 cent players. In which case at least one starter would have to be a .50 cent player. for example, take out Watt, Rettenmund, Hendricks, Dalrimple, and Johnson, and replace with .50 centers, you would be at $79.6.

2) force .50 cent replacements, but allow one over .50 cent replacement; for example, take out Watt, Rettenmund, Hendricks, and Dalrimple, and replace with .50 centers, and then allow Powell to be switched out for someone who costs about $5 million.

3) eliminate Baltimore, they are the only team with this issue.

I'd vote for the 3rd personally, but I'll leave it to you. I'll go with another team:

1. Genegrid---San Francisco- CA $67.15
2. Sykes---NY Yankees--NJ ?--$63.31
3. Hak --- Detroit --MI--$65.02
