Bomber Parks

I disagree, the RIGHT cheapies can get the job done and that leaves you more money to spend on your hitting.

Like I said earlier, two possible philosophies: OUTSLUG everyone or have a somewhat balanced team. There is nothing in between IMHO.

I have won 4 or 5 of my rings on outright bomber teams, simply pummelling the other team to death. It can and does work if you have the right players.

Oops! I was thinking of Babe Adams not Red Ames, sorry. Now for those bomber teams with all real cheap pitchers, don't you have to outslug two teams to make the championship? That can be a lot of great pitchers you have to beat. A lot of chances to be shut down by Pete and re pete's etc.
Plus if you don't have best record you go to their parks for game 5 or 7. It's real nice to have the home field and a big big bomber team going for you in the 5th or 7th game. I feel much better then.

My last 2 Fenway '67 teams...cheap sp's, average rp's...

I should have asked this question earlier on in the process .. :P
I went with the one ace theory and beefed up the bullpen as much as I could.
Most of the low-end SP's were gone except for Nolan

Here's what the team looks like now

I'm assuming you want an honest opinion, so I'll give it to you ...

I think you've built a losing team there. You are weak defensively, you don't have enough hitting to outhit anybody, Knepper will get pounded like a ragdoll and you don't have any relievers who can get a LH hitter out.

Sorry, but that's what I see

I'd much rather see Cvengros, Speer or Reuther in Fenway than Knepper.

Get a Lefferts or Perranoski for your pen.

Lombardi, Foxx, Matthews and Aaron (in RF, not CF) will do well. Though I prefer Lollar, Carter, May or Parrish over Lombardi.

McDougald, Barfield and Gantner MUST GO. You could probably upgrade on JoJo Moore also.

Other problem is there is not much really left on the wire to help you. Most of the low to medium priced SP's with few or no bphrs that i typically use are gone, and the rp's are REALLY picked over, no one there that I would even suggest outside of maybe hughes.

Knepper and Nolan, I agree are poorly suited for this park. 2B and LF are huge areas of concern for you also, I don't see much production coming out of those two guys. There are alot of options left for you in LF, but 2B is pretty picked over.

good luck! :)

Here's a link to a championship team with all cheapie starters:

Perhaps it will help change your mind.

Like I said earlier at least from my experience, there is no such thing as a halfway bomber team, I do them all or nothing.

Thanks EGVRICH, but all those Pitchers are gone. I have tried finding others, but i think I jumped into this too late and will have to make due with whats out there. I am using Barfield in CF, he's a 2(-4) e6, which is better than whats left. Other than Foxx, not sure what's wrong with the Infield defense, they're all 2's, I could get Ripken over McDougald, if that's a better choice.

The problem is that you have a team entirely made up of "2" range fielders except for Barfield who is playing out of position and also becomes a "2" when in CF. You are going to give up a ton of additional hits over the course of the season.

I just finished waivering a team an hour ago that is in Huntington a pure bomber team that is all "1" rated defenders ... Carter, Cooper, Morgan, Trammell, Yaz, Snider, Simmons & Werber (I know, Werber  , he's the best I could do with the cash left over). Bottom line is in a hitters park, you need to take away every hit and every extra base that you can.
