CF

[quote:140fac0a60="Free Radicals"]Here's my starters at this time . Waivers run today at 4.

C- Gibson
1st -McCormick
2nd -Doyle
3rd- Rolfe
ss- Wills
lf - Musial
cf - McCosky ( for now, terrible clutch )
rf - Medwick

I am leaning Dawson . Being 4th I know I won't get Mays but he would be the optimal pick .[/quote:140fac0a60]

You will find Wills to be extremely disappointing, all of that speed is wasted on him because of his poor obp. Also agree with MM, would not play doyle at 2B, especially at Royal. Never go below a 2 here IMHO...

McCosky is fine here, but move him to rf and put Dawson in CF...you could use the money you save (if you have enough to get Mays, I am assuming you have a good deal of $$ left) to upgrade Wills. Love Musial here, as well as Rolfe....

thanks for all the input all ! I went Dawson . I also have Frank White to spell Doyle. I am going to go with what I have and hope and pray ! :D :D

I wanted to have doubles and triple hitters and Doyle is the triples man !

Here's how I'm batting them :

Wills
Doyle
Dawson
Musial
McCormick
Medwick / Rolfe
Rolfe / Medwick
Gibson

I use Wills on almost all teams , he'll do fine .

It's your $24.95, but IMO you're making a large mistake leading Maury off.

Have to agree with that as well. Why lead someone off who will struggle to have a .300 OBP?

He'll be fine, but definitely not in leadoff. You're losing a ton of runs with him hitting #1. Lead Doyle off it you must keep him. The next best option is to lead off with Rolfe.

Von,

In the spirit of friendly advice, I recall a similar type thread a couple of months ago about Weaver as leadoff for a Baker team.

Wills will provide at best a .330 OBP per your list and has a chance at .280. One would hope for higher OBP from their leadoff guy, especially a SS with not especially good fielding ratings.

Suggest Donie Bush for similar $$.

Actually sschu I have been using Buck in the 3 whole sometimes if I need someone to hit the ball and drive in runs instead of looking for a walk .

@ Forbes hitting 3rd In front of Kiki and Hank .

162 677 69 183 26 6 12 97 24 58 36 12 .270 .380 .297

Average and obp may not be high but the hr's and rbi's were awesome for Buck . :D

Sidenote : Wills led off on this team too .

160 635 72 186 17 7 0 48 34 52 68 21 .293 .342 .331

186 hits isn't anything to sneeze at for a leadoff man who can steal his way to 3rd in a heartbeat . Team was 500. Pitching failed in the last week .

Von,

I cannot remember how many times you and I have exchanged interleague mail regarding Wills and Weaver, and where to bat them. Just take a look at Wills on your NFOOTB league team and your team's record. Obviously one guy cannot break a team, but he ain't helping any.

Free...those are better numbers than I would expect from Wills, but that's still barely a .330 OBP. I'd much rather lead off Rolfe or Doyle, who will likely get you .370 OBP. Doyle/Wills up the middle is 66 errors and 2/3 range...will be tough on your pitchers. Good luck.
