LOTO 2006 WARMUP LEAGUE...

Postby Jeepdriver » Sat Apr 01, 2006 8:54 am

Not having any disk or ratings book really puts those who only "read the cards" at a disadvantage. With not having much time to study the cards I'm not surprised my team is doing so poorly, although I'm not making excuses. I believe my newer teams which start this coming week are better. I hope so anyway, 3 out of 4 teams that started this week really suck.

I play the same way as Jeep...

No ratings disk or book...Just reading the cards and having a pretty good eye...But it usually takes me a couple of teams to get my feet wet. Typically I go just over or under .500 with my 1st 2 teams. Then I begin winning and making the postseason.

I will say one thing, I thought the 05' set was tough. I really belabor my player choices in this one. After studs like Arod, Roberts and a few others, there aren't a lot of really attractive options that are easy choices.

The fielders cannot hit and the hitters cannot field. I am thinking the best way to go is to take the power hitters - who have little speed, but good OB. Then hope for 3 run HRs. Not necessarily my style of play, altho I know a lot of players have made careers out of that style.

Pitching this year is as deep as last year was shallow. I think the drop in hitting is definitely an indicator of just how much steroid use there was in prior years.

I am going to be setting up another LOTO warmup league and inviting former LOTO players who did not play here 1st. Then I will open it up to the rest if we don't fill. I have 2 credits in addition to my initial Team at Dolphin Stadium. So I may actually do a 3rd warmup as well. Just want to get some of the LOTO crowd used to some of the new players before we commence the 06' Tournament.

Thanks everyone for playing... Robert

Boy I'm really gonna have to re-evaluate this team of mine! Can they really be THIS bad or am I just having the world's worst luck with dice rolls?!

Very frustrating... :(

Maybe outside the Division...

Will be kinder, Ty...You have the disadvantage of being in a Division with a tough lefty power Park -tough on Righties(Mine), a RH Park tough on lefties(Jamie's) and another hitters park with hitters that smash the daylights out of midranged to inexpensive pitching - all while playing in a hitters park...Advantage to the rest of us. I have found myself in lots of those sitiuations.

Do you go hard lefty? Hard righty? or try to fool us into playing into the hands of your bullpen. But you have to outhit the opposition for the bullpen to work. Tough call.

Hopefully you'll get some good rolls and play in more favorable parks and come back to the Div. in better shape. Maybe E balanced pitchers in the Division would be better. GL, Robert

Well I've certainly got an unenviable task tonight. I've got to try piling on Jeep's team that has struggled even more than my own club has!
I have to admit that I'm not totally sure just who I'm rooting for entirely?? :?

Well I can certainly feel for Jeep, my POC 80's team went like the first two weeks before they finally started winning a few games here and there.
It is a pretty daunting task though to make a comeback after digging so huge a hole.

Yep, I'm the whipping boy in this league, that's for sure! :x

Sure do wish we had the progressive FA Drop penalty in this league. Can't really do anything as is.

So beat-up on me now, after I get used to the cards some more I intend on exacting some revenge.

Actually I think Jeep and Ty's teams are pretty solid...they should bounce back pretty solid as they are. Hope my team does a little bounce upwards, I didn't think the hitting would post the numbers it's posting.
