enough offense to get through Griffth

What should I do about not having a Lefty starter?
I admit that Clemens, McLain and Camnitz is a great rotation, but
shouldn't I have some lefty, besides 1/2 #4 starter with Roe?

In addition is Patterson a strong enough reliever?

It's not critical to have a LH starter, if you have quality E rated RH starters. I have used 4 RHP's on numerous occasions with success. My question originated based upon the 4th starter. If I were building a team around 3 top notch starters and a cheapie 4th starter, I would make sure I had all possible bases covered for that 4th starter so I could maximize my matchups. I guess that's the point I was trying to make.

You could also as mentioned downgrade Gwynn and pick up a Splitorff or Mudcat type who will get the job done well enough for a cheap price.

ugghh

I promised myself I wasn't going to respond, but here goes

Cochrane would do nicely back on your roster although Carter is mighty nice to have.

Gardner could easily turn into templeton or weaver

Hernandez could turn into Judge

If you want to keep taylor as your number 2 reliever, fine. but you need a staley/tincup/humphries sort at least

set your starters on slow hook
set your closer on regular
set your relief to conservative

and set your best reliever to both close and set up from both sides

You need an arm in right field - Meusel/Clemente/Valentine

They should be gone, but if Frock and Carter were sitting in the FA pool who knows who else is there - I don't have access to check right now

Yerkes would be a nice match for Frock

and a bunch of sub 1.00 rp's are usually around better than what you have - find one who can pitch a lot of innings vance/aggie/ whatever and set to mop up

dump Pina

don't worry about having a lefty

keep Jack anyway

Assuming I'm seeing the correct free agents on berce, it appears Dreisewerd is availabe. Get him now. Drop Pina. Also drop Nelson or Meyer and get Bob Miller. I would get Furillo for RF.

Nelson out - Tincup in.

I can move Gwynn/Pesky for Furillo/Chapman.
who is a better Griffth combo. Seems like I'd lose
a bit of offense for better defense.

I've had great success with bullpens like Miller, Taylor, Dreisewerd, Shoffner. I don't think Tincup is necessary. I would drop Tincup for a .50 SP only (Tudor, Nipper, Medich, even Harper, etc). I would trade in Gwynn for Furillo. I would then exchange Leifield for Koosman. That's a team I would feel very good about.
