Sean,
You are correct that was your message. Sorry. I think I was looking at bjs reply to your message. Both very amusing. Dont worry, I will keep the 88s aimed towards the sky looking for the next Warthog sortie. I am sure another squadron is coming.

[quote:a7f2071fcd="seanreflex"]Hey Panzer,
I've been rather quiet in the league --- I'm a bit humiliated actually

I started out 37-17 in this league (feeling like the 27 Yankees). Since I've gone 6-18 (now feeling like the 78 Red Sox, 14 game lead on July 1st).

I can't figure out what to do to get back on a winning track here. I'm about to start offering some trades. I'm on the ropes, have dropped out of the division lead, and at this point aren't even in the playoff picture!!

I'd take any constructive criticism that you, Abner, BJ or any of the other vets are willing to offer. I also wish I'd taken Kemp when you offered :(

And I thought that was MY message on Brett. Losing him for the season hasn't helped me at all !! That is a HUGE bat to take out of the lineup. Gaetti has been respectable though, I'll give him credit.

Don't count the Warthogs out just yet. They will fight to the bitter end!

I told you Rickey was the kiss of death. Bad guy.

Yeah, muttonhead! Your G. Brett release was good but my double entendre reply with a Monty Python twist was a classic. I spent at least 5 minutes on it. :P

Woe is me, Sean. I was having such a bad start this year on 5 out of 6 teams that I began to really wonder if - as Jimmy_C has stated so eloquently - "Hal hate me." (I have to admit that when Jimmy first showed up on the scene and started in with that bit, I thought it was hilarious. Especially when I was getting into leagues and his manager name was "Hal hate me.")

Maybe you should pick up some of your usual "lucky charms" like Upshaw?

Out of all of my active teams, I really wanted to do well with this one.

Sigh.

The good news is perhaps now "HAL like me" instead. I just made the playoffs where I lost my lead in the final week and was two games back going into the final series. I needed the sweep against the division leader or else I was out. (I had led the division up until game game 154. Then the team choked.) I clicked the boxscores last night and now I feel like you beloved 2004 BoSox instead of my beloved 2003 Cubbies.

Sitting on a 31-47 record, I am hesitant to offer advice to anyone as it may serve to hasten your teams demise.

In most of my leagues I have been fortunate to get bargain priced pitching, yet still wind up near the top in least runs allowed. In this league, I am 11th in pitching which is a major reason in why my gang is struggling to match Ted Williams .406 mark in 41! :( Not to mention the likes of the rest of you stomping on me.

Best wishes to all in this league. 8)

Streaks seem more the rule than the exception in this league. I started out hot (14-7), then went stone cold (16-23), then have suddenly gotten hot again. But Sykes seems to be the real master this time around.

By the way, when a trade offer comes in that doesn't work for me, I almost always make a counter offer, accompanied by a clear explanation of my needs. It's surprising how often this leads to an eventual trade--often one that benefits both sides--even if the initial offer was a little one-sided. And even if no trade comes off, at least you've gotten to know the other manager better, which might open the door to a later deal. Even if I don't accept the trade and don't offer a counter, I usually try to explain why.

Jablow, you were right --- I'll NEVER have Rickey on one of my teams again !! That bastahdd !! He ruined my team.

BJ, your little tidbit with the Monty Python twist was precious. You're a very witty man (and a very bad strat manager  )

I hope you're happy now, Panzer. You've got everyone talking again. I've got a nice little present to stuff down the barrel of your 88's, my friend

Abner, congrats on your championship. Truly amazing stuff. I used to want to aspire to be as good as Panzer ... but now I want to be JUST LIKE ABNER :P

Spring is here, tis the season for steroids and whining. Question of the day: what on earth possessed the Red Sox to acquire Julian Tavarez, while at the same time not signing Johnny Damon, and then trading Bronson Arroyo. Thank God Theo is back

Just checking the standings...

Not sure which is more surprising:

Panzer Ace- Employing the now famous "Panzer Ace Platoon System" (P.A.P.S.) leading the league of "Panzer Busters", by squeezing out terrific performances from his players.

Or...

Abner Doubleday - The inventor of the game of baseball himself is sitting last in his division (no really...has anybody ever witnessed that?) trailing by 20 games. His team can't even get phone numbers from the "baseball groupies" that the other teams didn't want!! (even the really ugly, skanky ones)

Down the Stretch they come

Postby Panzer ace » Wed Apr 19, 2006 9:03 am

Abner has had very bad luck with his pitching this season. His offense is great. They just cant score enough to make up for the shelling the pitchers have been taking.
With 30 games to go, there are 6 teams within 5 games of each other. The West has been a 3 team dogfight all season. It should be a great finish. Any predictions on who fades and who surges down the stretch?

I'll predict the Jablowmis continue their season long mediocrity, although there will be some major changes this afternoon in my likely futile attempt to get back into the Central race.
