Juan Pierre--Underpriced?

Juan Pierre--Underpriced?

Postby docnike » Sat Apr 08, 2006 9:04 pm

Is his pricing missing a 0 at the end?Is CF defense that valued that someone who plays all 162 games, steals 57 bases and had 181 hits ONLY $620,000? Just seems to me, with all the other centerfielders ahead of him that this is the bargain of the 2006 season. Too bad I didn't see that before my draft!

I think he is underpriced, considering what you get.

But I don't think I'd start him in CF, so there's no place to play him. That was probably the pricemaster's thinking.

I just drafted him to play CF on a Fenway speed team. I'll bat him second and check off bunt more, hit and run m,ore and steal more. He has very few DP's on his card. Anyone that can play regularly that is sub-$1M is underpriced to me.

...and over 500 outs (first in MLB, if not mistaken).

Its hard to run down a hit in the corner when you are carrying that bobble head around!!!

Hey, Bernie, next year, if San Fransisco LF is going to get a card next year, can you please name the card Bobble-Head Barry?!?!?!

Very low on base year for Pierre, is only on base approximately 31/108 on his card (not including the standard-for-almost-everyone ballpark singles) -- which is very low compared to most starters -- and of course with extremely low HR's and doubles. I wouldn't want him even as a backup in a homerun park while in a very low homerun park that terrible arm and the 3 rating will cost runs which is tough in the low-scoring games in those parks. He's a fairly good backup CF in a low homerun park and if very desperate I could certainly see even using him as a starter in a very low homerun park so I could see him being priced a bit higher than he is but not by much.

Good Value

I have Pierre playing center and batting 9th in Fenway. After 72 games he's hitting .280 with 24SB. But he's been thrown out 11 times. I love having a sub $1mil player with a AA steal rating hitting 9th. I did the same thing with Podsednik last year. He hit just under .300 and I won it all.
