United got off to a sterling start :o by sweeping the Mystics on the road. Bullpen by committee was the charm, with saves being achieved by three different pitchers (Cordero, Street, Gordon). We'll see if we have the bats to keep this up :?

Well, I had very few surprises with my club as I hired any player that had a OBP over .100 :D

Oddly, Mateo pitched 4 innings of flawless ball ( ) and then saved the next game against me - only to get dropped that night.

I found quite a few players rarely used on squads so those are type that will stick to my club.

I had a funeral on Sunday / Monday for my Uncle so I probably wasn't too focused this weekend with my clubs. I had five 80s teams that went on auto-pilot for four days. In the format, I did the same whether I made pitching match-ups or not. While these clubs are a rolling along at a nice .570 %, I am amazed that you can bomb with Clemens' best card two games in a row but get HoF output from the worse Allan Anderson card.

Like my Cleveland Indians, we'll start a little rough but will find the controls just in time.

As for ratings, I'm sure with my mix crew of nuts - we'll be bringing up the rear. Of course, Alou's poor fielding record only deludes his nasty hitting card. In four SOM leagues that I spied his card, he is usually batting close to his 2005 stats. If anything, I grabbed him 'cause I know Larry will need a few weeks off this season. :D

Would have dropped Mateo earlier - but didnt get a chance to make final adjustments til after the 10pm deadline. Was a little surprised myself at his performance! Guess he's a little pissed at me now!

SOM: Luck over Skill

Billy Wagner's 6 BBs / 1 SO allowed in four (4) innings of work @ PETCO.

Those rolls had to come off the hitters' cards.

2 nights ago i had [b:c5caaaa198]TWO[/b:c5caaaa198] relievers in the same game give up 10 runs each, one was a hard righty and the other a hard lefty (sorry i forget the names just memba their card tendencies) playing FTF id never even let one reliever get close to being that bad, they should have a choice on manager settings for when to yank a pitcher after giving up so many runs.

pretty strange start for my team in this league, i lost Kent and Barrett for 3 games in the first inning of the first game...i'll take the 3-0 start :)

What gets my goat with HAL's TSN pitching settings is it will yank a solid outing by a pitcher but then allow another pitcher to get abused beyond recognition.

On my only 2005 team, I have had less than stellar outings by Benson, Madson, and Maddux in Wrigley only to see less the usual suspects tossing gems throughout the season.

All in the dice, yes. :D

I'd love for Bernie to employ a few more pitching controls, if anything.

For the most part HAL used my Bully the right way, they were just treated the wrong way by Day's Squad. My SP's essentially had a dream, only two runs allowed in three starts and covering 18 IP. I honestly thought that my bully would over come the short comings in my staff. I hope this was a major abboration. Bad dice..... evil dice

You have to love the dice.

The best is when your 0 natural HRs and 0 BPHR pitcher gets rocked for a few HRs in a pitching park division. :D

On another note, I just took a scan of six leagues and Billy Wagner probably had 15 total walks over 100 plus innings. It's gotta be the shoes or the move to the Mets, Mars! :D

I obviously haven't figured out '06 yet, another 0-3 start last night. I'm not used to doing so poorly (no winning '06 teams yet) and me don't like it!
