No offense taken. And normally, I won't debate "who's better" because it's all so subjective. But in this instance, what the heck....why not?

[quote:0b3dfe19f7]Thank you for re-inforcing my point. How did George Bell do in the playoffs? How did Walker and Helton do those years?[/quote:0b3dfe19f7]

Please. If your whole point is that I should give the award to K-Mac because you made the playoffs and Sean didn't, then you're clearly confused. First of all, that's not the reason I gave it to Bell (like you said, it's not the MVP award, it's the ROY). But even if it was, it's not like Bell played for a last place team. Your Murphs finished ONE WHOLE GAME ahead of the Mango Men. If the Mangos hadn't lost 2 of 3 to the last place Bums on the last day, the roles would've been easily reversed. If making the playoffs is your big argument, then I don't think you have a leg to stand on. The difference in one game does not give McReynolds the edge.

[quote:0b3dfe19f7]Mrs. Bell might not have broke .300 hitting in the Murph. Dont throw the BP crap at me. The loss of singles at the Murph is greater than the loss of HR at Fenway my friend. [/quote:0b3dfe19f7]

Wait a minute. You really think the loss of SINGLES in the Murph is greater than the loss of HOME RUNS at Fenway?? You do know that you need at the minimum of 4 BP singles to score a single run...and that you need just one BP HR to score a run, right?

And why is it BP "crap" when I use it....but then it's valid when you say that Bell wouldn't hit .300 at the Murph? Can't have it both ways, pal.

Again, no offense taken. I agree that this is all in good fun and should be taken as such. Just a debate between a couple of divisional rivals :)

P.S. - Hey Sean, anytime you feel like jumping in here, feel free. Hate having to defend your guys all the time. Sheesh.

[quote:d1e2fe5082]Truth be told, if you put K-Mac in Fenway, his power numbers would be WORSE than they are now. Put Bell in the Murph and his power numbers would be BETTER than they are now. For me, that was the tie breaker. [/quote:d1e2fe5082]

Disagree with the above statment because the BP HR for fenway is 13 (16 at the Murphy) so it is not a hugh effect. So I can see sykes' view. But then Bell kicked my ass so I agree that bell is ROY.

An agrument can be made to split the ROY and give the prize money to the "I Still Like Dave" fund.

you guys are both wrong. The Wizard of Oz was the clear cut rookie of the year, as his defense turned around a pitching staff from the worst in the league in '84 (with Franco at SS) to best record.

Defense is where its at!

Enough said. Oz is ROY.

Hey guys,
Aren't you all looking over a little 20 game winner for ROY.
Jimmy Key was dominating in his rookie campaign, going 21-10 with a 2.73 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP. Personally, I think his performance smokes all others. Frankly, Key should be given serious consideration for the CY as well.

Hey IM. Sorry man, I completely overlooked Key. Forgot he was even a rookie. He should definitely be in the ROY conversation, but I don't know about his performance "smoking" all others. It's too difficult to quantify who's "better" or who had more of an impact. When it's all said and done, I'm sure you couldn't have won the division without Key, nor Sykes and Sean getting where they did without McReynolds and Bell respectively. Sure, I could've copped out and picked a co-ROY but what fun would that be? It wouldn't have sparked all this discussion, that's for sure!

Again, my apologies IM, for leaving Key out.

Wow. It's hard to choose between Bell and McReynolds. Mac's numbers are slightly more dominant, but I agree with the thinking that offense is that much harder to produce in Fenway.

I think Key's numbers would win him the ROY any other year. Come to think of it, I'd put Key's numbers up there with George and Kev's. If it were just up to me I'd declare a three-way tie between Key, Bell and McReynolds. With all due respect to Ozzie's acrobatics, his lack of offense doesn't put him in the running, in my opinion.

You folks really need to get a grip on this here. If I get time, I will post pitching and hitting stats from all of my Fenway teams and put them up against a sample of my 45,000 murphy teams. Teams in Fenway score more runs and give up more runs.
