LOTO 2006 WARMUP LEAGUE...

Postby Stoney18 » Tue Apr 11, 2006 3:38 pm

Rob's got that magic touch with turning teams around.

Would love to play in the new league with you guys but my 7th 06 team just started. All of them have been pre-card/keeper/theme leagues and I've spent way to much time the last 3 weeks.

Ty, I had a good feel for the 05 cards after the 1st 20 teams or so, so it was easy to keep up and make changes. 06 has been tougher to get a handle on.

Have to admit the transition to 06 has taken more of my time that I should have let it. Especially since I have a tendency to 2nd guess myself.

Probably won't start any new teams for a while but when I do it will be a) Tour b) Jaser (i'm assuming there will be a new one), c) Lotto

First teams I look at in the morning are the Lotto teams. The leagues I want to win the most are the Lotto leagues. :D :D

I'm with ya there Stoney. I'll be keeping it to the LOTO leagues and the 7 Championship tour events of which I'll probably play all of them.
I love the Tour events for the experience and prestige but I love the LOTO leagues for the challenge and to feed my trashtalking jones.

Well that is of course unless I decide to form up some other strange and convoluted league as I have been known to do in the past.

I've even thought of the rebirth of my Foxhunt theme league which was a pretty screwed up concept that survived through three hunts before I shut it down.

When I 1st conceived the LOTO Leagues...

Postby ROBERTVOZZA » Wed Apr 12, 2006 2:05 am

It was primarily because I didn't have time to play LIVE DRAFTS orTHEME LEAGUES...But the competition and lack of comaraderie in standard AUTO Leagues left me unsatisfied...

i also never had the time to play in enuf leagues to actually ever get a high ranking (Or even to be ranked at all). But my highly competitive nature combined with the love male comradery and ability to put things together caused me to want to play against 1. People I had come to know and love and 2. A fierce level of competition.

So I assembled a group of the longtime strat friends that I went way back with(Edgecitytx, CATom, Qksilver, Kaviksdad, Jeep, TRich, AT, Alphonso, JaserD, (Leehaak - Who started the Original "TRASHTALKERS" with the 01' set with me) and Kire - whom have both disappeared along with rmhokama - whom i also had a many league relationship with.)

And TRASHTALKERS evolved into "COOL STRAT DUDES" in 02' - Which evolved into LOTO(League Of Their Own) in 03' due to some bad experiences we had in CSD - which is the reason why LOTO is an invitational as opposed to open to the public.

Big, Sandy, ET, Cubit, Riggo, Freak, Lucky, Penn, Tycobb, Jamesgang, Dneedle1, AP, Ineluki, Jamie, J-PAV and Cubs48 all became regulars in 03'-05' and beginning this year, we will have evolved into a full fledged 48 Team Elimination Invitational.

All are still simple ADs - some with different caps, some with unique stadiums, some not and just simple little twists that I wouldn't go so far as to call themes.

I don't know what the players say to others about LOTO, but the simplicity of AD type drafts against extremely tough competition, in the company of respected and respectful veterans, who bring in new players who fit the "LOTO FAMILY" type mold with a good deal of banter has certainly been a tremendous SOM experience for me. And I have gotten a lot of positive feedback from most of the players.

So my feeling is that it will be around for awhile. This new group from 05' has really added even more character to a pretty lively bunch.

I think the new names i have added to the Tour invitation list will hopefully make it another positive experience for everyone.

Looking forward to it - probably early June. Robert

OOPS, I think i forgot to mention...

Postby ROBERTVOZZA » Wed Apr 12, 2006 2:20 am

Cristano1...hope I didn't forget anyone else...Don't want to make anyone feel left out who has played.

This year, I am planning to invite Tyber, Cummings, Stoney, Charlie, Jeff, Maligned, Jerlins, AFDICKIE, JDEarly, abnerdoubleday, PBTR, durantjerry, doctrcpa, Pinhead, Bob1007, Joethe Jet/Wineman, Great Unwashed, Mav1(All whom I have played against) and a few who have been around for awhile that for some odd reason, I have not been in leagues with - Coffeeholic, Glennglenn, B.O.B.B.Y and last years big winner - Altec...

After that, There will be a list of at least 12 backups that will likely include Bubbahotep, JKolak, edbazo, Cristano's other 2 thirds - Spicki and Giddyup, Chuckl, and a few others.

Should be great fun. SWP
