A la the old Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons, tune in for our next episode "Baby needs new shoes" or "A good night for QK".
The force is with qksilver as he loads the bases one time in Game 1, hits a GS and wins by two runs. In Game 2, loads the bases twice, hits a GS and wins by three runs. In Game 3, with two out and no one on base in the bottom of the 9th, Qk sends four consecutive lefties up against Rivera with the only pure hit a single at 4-3 and gets four straight hits to come from behind to win and capture the sweep.
Doff of the cap, Qk. That's a good night!

Actually I had a walk, a HBP & an error to help me against Rivera, so there were a lot of good things happening for me.
Was a tough decision on who to keep on my staff - Hasegawa for better long relief, or a lower-quality pen with more specialists, but guys like Womack & Fick off the bench. Fick does his job & gets the pinch single after Ryan Howard gets hurt (thanks for that BTW Beach, nice 10-gamer!) then Womack comes in and forces Beach's backup C, Adroin, into a throwing error after getting the jump.
As for the 2 GS's, you guys can expect to see a lot more of that from me - last sim I ran (just in our div, not the whole league) had my team at .286/.372/.520 with bases loaded....

I know very few of you play in the 80s format but Bernie will release v2.0 by early May for those who care to play again.
I find it more fun than the current versions. When your team is mired in 4th place at the All-Star break, you still have a chance to pull it out.
Until now, you couldn't do as much in the 200xversions.
Doubtful you can make wholesale changes in the 2006 version under the $100m cap leagues. :roll:

Hey semp as much as you seem to dislike 100mil leagues in 200X :roll: , multiply that by a factor of 10, and that's my distaste for the 80's game. :P I so LOATHE the mystery card concept. It's to bad too cause there's a lot of players form the 80's I'd love to use in a staright up game.
To me the 80's game is like buying a car blinfolded and trying to figure out what options the factory gave you. :shock: Crappy way to buy anything IMHO.

Before Bernie changed the free agent policy, I had the same feeling about the 200x version.
If you didn't nail enough bargains or worked yourself into an extreme park (e.g., Shea) inside of a non-extreme division (e.g., Fenway), you might as well as write the season off before the All-Star break if you weren't competitive at that turn.
The stories are limited about teams closing the gap in 200x. If anything, I found the teams that do are those that underplayed their cards (Pujols hitting sub .250 then hits his card).
In the 80s, you are rewarded for staying close to the box scores and working your line-up. I have had two teams (out of 6) at 10 games under at the All-Star break only to be 13 games over in the closing weeks and within strike distance of 1st place.
In the case at hand, I doubt too many teams can afford to make wholesale changes as the waiver wire lacks any high value players. If you could increase roster size - great.
As TSN has fixed the pricing formula - the Dubose / Feliz of 2003 are few and far between in 2006.
The season is early here and my guys will play well enough for my only 2006 team. I'll learn from this season and find my niche in the next NLD.

In this league, I doubt we'll see teams making wholesale changes as the free agent pool holds little to meet the eye.
Heck, I'd love to increase my roster size to 30. I'd hire every injury prone player and let HAL have a blast with them. :D
I'd not bat an eye if HAL played Frank Thomas at SS :P

Personally the 80's game just took too dang much time. Had to try and
figure out which card you got. You were actually hoping for injuries in the
early going so you could cut guys quickly. Blah. :roll:
