Paul is on assignment for Hollywood Reporter

Postby TomSiebert » Wed Apr 12, 2006 8:59 am

I talked to Paul this morning. He's in L.A. covering the production companies' slate of potential new shows for the upcoming fall TV season and having a hell of a time with it -- His laptop's wireless access is f#cked up and he's been filing through dial up and blackberry.

He had no idea the draft had begun and was angsting out unnecessarily when I told him. He might not be able to draft for at least 24 hours or so. He hasn't looked at the cards, he's totally behind the 8-ball.

He was VERY APOLOGETIC, and even said he would drop out if he had to. I told him not to be ridiculous, and that things would probably just move slowly until Monday. I'm going to be living in a hotel w/out internet until Mid-Sunday anyway, and I don't want to put in a ton of proxies.

tom, if he's in la he can always drop by our studios on sunset and Illl give him a private tutorial tonight, omitting the #1 pick I was pondering who's still out there. pujols was my other possibility, with vlad ofcourse, but again, decided roberts was so far superior to all the 2b, I had to have him. wish I had one of those other guys to drive him in....
if he's in l-a he should have enough of a hotel to have a business center or some internet access. we'll see. hope we get YOUR 2nd round pick in before you dissappear for a few days. I removed the gulfleague and hopefully any confusion.

I made a mistake; Paul's latest trip takes him to Atlanta, not LA. He just called me from The Weather Channel, and is heading to the airport shortly.

He's going to try and make a pick this afternoon.

I'll be able to draft thru Friday end of business, and I'll put in a couple proxies, depending on where the draft is....when your on the end, a blown proxy (or two) can ruin your season.

it's a drag for everybody, but let's just play this out the way we got dealt...it's a new league for many of us, and we've gotta be patient.

I think Roberts is a great pick incidentally -- switch hitting N-power, 600+PA, OBA and speed, vacuum defense, head & shoulders above the other 2B options. ARod is also great, because you've got options for 3B or SS as you draft.

Did I hear correctly, Paul works for the Weather Channel.

Does he have connections? That has been my dream to work with Kristina Abernathy!

Sorry, no....

Paul works for Hollywood Reporter. He covers the TV beat. He's been traveling around the country -- LA, Atlanta, Florida -- getting the lowdown on programming for the coming year.

Sorry, no Kristina for you!
