After a little PT conversation, Mighty Moose is out in reprising Diamond Chefs....

So, I am going to solicit for the remaining four owners needed to replay this league on the main ATGII board.

Got a new owner... 1 down, 3 to go

EAST
Holy Schmoes - Tomwistar
NH Primaries - Palanion
La Verne RainbowGypsies -
The Followers of Genghis Kahn -
CENTRAL
Mabel's Saloon - Frank Bailey
Garfield Orz'z - Tim Orz
Conway Suns - Lloyd Jones
Newark Marauditors - bascum
WEST
Slugging Boss - boss of um
Whoa mama - murphy70
Diamond Chefs -
Shebtown Muskies - Munich Man is IN

We also need to figure out how many rounds of the draft we want. And where to do it. I know it was frowned upon to draft on the old forums, but maybe since TSN so desperately seems to want us to come to their forums (no message in e-mails), we should just do it here.

Thoughts?

The last beer is mine. :D

Nice to join the party. Let's see if I can whip those Muskies into shape! I think the first thing that needs to go is the name, I've put quite a bit of thought into the name change and have come up with two options, let me know what you guys think--

Munich Germaniacs 61 or
Munich Germaniacs 62.

I'm sorry to lay such a difficult decision on my new league mates right off the bat, I hope I'm not moving too fast. Maybe the brews will help lubricate the thought processes. This being Oktoberfest time, the above beers have come direct from the [i:6d28dd1a06]wiesn[/i:6d28dd1a06]. Careful, it's strong stuff and they only serve them in liters.

Some thoughts on the proposals.

1. 7 players sound great to me. Good number which will give the poorer teams a chance to improve, while not keeping dominant teams too powerful.

2. Worst-to-first draft. I think this works as well. I also think it should be NFL style, to make it more challenging for the previous winners. I'm in the 6th season of a keeper league right now, here are our rules--

1 - You may keep up to $50 000 000 worth of players + 2 Franchise Players ($100m Cap).

2 - The Franchise Players will be protected from the off-season "redistribution of wealth".

3 - From Worst Record to Best Record each owner will be entitled to take a player off another teams keeper roster (ties will be broken by whichever team has the worst RS/RA differential). At the end of the 1 Round all owners should have 1 new player and lost 1 player (no team can be taken from twice).

4 - Then there will be a 6 Round Draft (Worst to First every round NFL Style). There will be no time limit (unless requested or deemed necessary). This 6 player draft will be designed to even up the league. Keep in mind that you will have to fill a 25 Man Roster under $100M.

5 - After all teams have 2 Franchise Players, 1 Taken Player, Remainder of $50 000 000 Keeper Roster & 6 Drafted FA, we'll autodraft the remainder.

This is a nice setup and in five seasons we haven't had a repeat champion (although I have won my division 4 times :) )

We keep the same divisions each year as well to promote rivalries. It's a lot of fun. just some food for thought.

3. Live Draft-- I strongly suggest using Penngray's draft site. It's makes drafting so easy and you can easily set proxies automatically. I can set up the draft no problem and we can simply set our 7 keepers as our first proxy picks so they will all draft automatically. I can help anyone not familiar with the site. It really is a great tool.

Well, that's about it from me. Looking forward to this league, it's always a challenge to take over an existing team and try to make it successful. Looks like a great group of owners, which is most likely why you guys wanted to do the league again!

MM,

mmmm... tasty thanks.

Salud!

Another reason, I think, that we were interested in doing it again was the pennant races.
Saloons were dominant throughout, winning over 100 games, but Orz had a strong end push and then kicked butt in the postseason to win it from Saloon. Conway Suns were 5 games out of the wild card with 15 or 18 left, methinks.
Primaries (me) made a trade with 48 games to go that pushed me back into it. Won 11-in-a-row, then finished the season losing 11 of 15.
The west, I think, all 4 teams were within 8 games of each other with 20+ to go. Boss (the team that traded with Primaries) made the last push to win it. Muskies did lead for quite a bit, if I remember.

So I think because the majority of us were so enthralled with the pennant chase and it created some rivalries. Since everyone is returning in that central division, I am excited to see what happens there.

As for the draft, yes worst to first each round. 6 rounds works for me. I have used Penngray's draft site before, too. As long as everyone familiarizes themselves with the proxy system, we should be fine.

Do we want a steal round folks? Part of me thinks that keeping 7 can be hard enough, that losing one of them kinda blows. However, there are players I'd like a shot at getting, so.....

Also, I posed the option of changing ballparks earlier and since no one responded either way, I assume there was no negative feelings toward it.

I don't plan on changing my park, but with 7 protected players I can totally see owners changing for a new approach.

Btw, MM, if your multi-season keeper league ever needs a replacement owner, let me know.

Ok... parameters as of right now:
7 protected players, must start season with them.
Can change ballparks.
One season.
Live draft is worst to first, NFL rules, as below (anyone correct me if I am wrong):
1)The Followers of Genghis Kahn (worst record)
2)La Verne RainbowGypsies
3)Newark Marauditors
4)Diamond Chefs
5)whoa mama
6)N.H. Primaries
7/8)Shebtown Muskies/Conway Suns (tie) - maybe RS as tiebreaker?
Muskies are also being renamed Munich Germaniacs 2,435 (or something like it)
9)SLugging Boss (div. winner)
10)Mabel's Saloon (best record)
11)Holy Schmoes (finals)
12)Garfield Orz'z (champ)

Two questions:
Tiebreaker for Muskies/Suns draft position - does the NFL use pts. scored or allowed?
And, do we want a steal round? My opinion is no, but...

I don't know about the NFL, but in all the leagues I'be been in, we use head-to-head record first, followed by best run differential. Have no idea what either of those were for this league, you need to figure that out.

As a little bit of help to the new teams, Ballparks and 7 keepers of the 8 returning managers should be announced prior to the draft, then the new managers will state their 7 keepers and ballparks...just something I believe to be a fair suggestion.....also I'm not sure about the trading procedure , whether picks can be used as part of trades, or when trading is allowed, ( I would love a clarification on this ) but in any case please don't be shy about trade inquiries, EVERYONE and draft picks(yes even the #2 overall pick) are available except for Mays and Collins, as always all trafe offers considered and quickly responded to.....
