March Madness Bracket 3

Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

This is a very healthy waiver draft for the early picks. Unusual to see Rickey, Saberhagen, Sutton, Grich, and Key all available together in a waiver draft.

My feeling is that I would be surprised if Jablowmi takes Rickey first simply because Grich would meet a greater need on his club and have a greater impact on his team (as long as he does't get Grich's bad card, but then the same can be said about Henderson's worse card in a power park.)

If Panzer Ace gets Rickey, he will have an awsome outfield of Henderson, Murphy, and Guerrero. It would be really impossible to do better, though frankly Rickey would not be the perfect fit in his power park.

I know one thing for sure. Saberhagen, Sutton, and Key will not be available by the sixth pick. These guys are so tough to get in any draft, let alone a waiver draft.

Finally, I think the top seeds in this league are already showing why they are the heavy favorites. They have top picks in the waiver draft and better teams at the same time. A weighted draft would have rectified this, but not in this league.

Hey Jablow, how do you think that Hal was unkind to us? Except for two starters (Drabek and Soto) and Fisk, I got everything I had hoped for. And, Simmons for Fisk in Fenway isn't too bad --- except that defense thing.

Smell?? Did someone say smell? I don't think that's diesel fuel coming from Panzers camp, I think it's horse dung that stinks from getting tossed around so liberally over there

this will be an interesting waivers. Nice to see the big trades happen in preseason. I wish I had gotten a crack at Jack Clark.

good luck all --- yeah, like Panzer needs luck !

Sean, just trying to start up some mild trash talk. Well, according to Sean and me, he's the early favorite in Bracket 3!

Semper, I can tell you, I got hit pretty hard in the auto. While I did seek to have a high waiver pick, I didn't really plan for one this high! I got only 9 of 25, including 4 $0.75ers, and only 1 of my top 6 (Oz). However, I also got extraordinarily lucky with Will Clark and Molitor as late replacements. I haven't gotten my first pick in about 8 straight drafts!

Still, I'm relatively happy with my Royals Stadium (a non-traditional Jablowmi park) lineup:

C-Whitt (probably)
1-Will Clark
2-(don't know)
S-Oz
3-Molitor
L-Daniels
C-Oakland #24 (waiver)
R-Hendrick (possibly)
DH-Greenwell/LoSmith platoon (probably)

We'll have to wait & see on the pitching.......

I'm just amazed that in a tourney setting - the only "smack" comes from the two lowest seeds. Ranked low 40s in the seeds, I can't be all that and a bag of chips.

As for my draft (75% selection rate), I found some stuff I can use for Dodger Stadium:

C: Salas / ??? [with the LHSPs - I can afford the +1 arm]

1B: Murray
2B: Doran (1e)
SS: Fernandez (1e)
3B: DeCinces

LF: Raines
CF: Puckett (1e)
RF: Gywnn (1e)

DH: Canseco

We'll see if middle infielding defense and speed counts for something in Dodgers.

Bill, Tony, Tim, Luis, Tony G, and Jose - meet Ernie and the high kicking pitchers.

And, don't be shy so take a few extra bases on those balls to the outfield.

While I do not have one of the top seeds, I have played against a few of you and done half way decent. I do think that I smell something :?: I believe that it is fear. I think it will be just like George Mason and Connecticut. I definitely think that some top seeds are going down. :D :D :D

Nice to read that opening day will run under the new 80s TSN SOM engine (well, nothing too new for us).

If we can now get a few more names in the game

I have a blast pulling out my baseball card binders every blue moon to see some of these names on the cards.

Has anyone seen a 80s card with Lance Mullikins on it?

Not a groupie herder by a long country mile.

In an effort to stir up more trash talk

Postby rookssa1958 » Fri Apr 14, 2006 8:18 pm

Allow me to post some post waiver predictions as to how the divisions will finish.

East
Ugly Bracket busters - Studly Rotation and solid offense, is it enough
Fast Break - Big Offense, lots of .75 RP’s, Panzer Ace always wins
Blues - Could be biggest offense in division
Killers - Not enough offense

Central
Grumps - Either huge offense or huge bust
Jablowmi - Always pesky, either good out of the gate, or gets good through the wire
Dogs - Cool all lefty rotation, we get to see right away if our lefty killers are any good
Bali Bracket - Not enough offense

West
Pigheads - Will score but not really a Tiger rotation
Paulz - Rotation may carry team
Reunion - Can’t win with this many Red Sox players
Badgers - Can the Hawk carry this bunch?

Wild Card - Jablowmi

Champioship - Grumps over Pigheads in 7

(okay, I know I am just a .500 guy, but ya gotta believe going in, else whats a heaven for?)
