Frank M is correct. The five players you named as core prior to draft + UP TO seven additional players pre-waivers is how it works.
The idea is to carry over players from your last roster, and be forced to make tough choices during the draft & after - do you try to pick up players that will be worth keeping through 2-3 2006 seasons and keep holding on to them until 2007 comes out, or do you go for a win now & hope you can pick a few good keepers up along the way somehow.
The additional 7 we name now are rights retained. The no-trade, no-drop rule does not apply, however you must have them on your roster in order to retain rights to them for next keeper selection at end of this round.
