Mark Sweeney and other 2006 disapointments

Postby hugedude24 » Sat Apr 15, 2006 10:12 am

My most disapointing player by far is Mark Sweeney, Mark, not Mike. Let me say this first: I think his card vs. righties is amazing. I personally have him batting leadoff for me, but it's not working at all. My complaints:

1) he's batting .174 with a .261 obp and one sole homer at the BOB
2) he's been injured 4 times this year through 30 games with a one injury rating

Has he been so disapointing for anybody else? Or who is your most disapointing player?

looks like he's a road warrior atleast. love the card and am thinking about drafting him, but afraid of the injuries. don't know about leading him off, but he IS loaded with walks. i'd hang with him awhile, but he's kinda expensive for being one sided, a defensive nightmare and slow.

my dissapointments...for the price...have had mixed success with b. roberts, but he's still head and shoulders above 2b, just costs as much as 2 or 3 of them. I traded for the rocket, speaking of outrageous price tags, and he just got over .500 in nine decisions, one less hit than inning, and an e.r.a. near five. had to drop rivera, who actually went on a save spree for me, but had already blown six of his first 13. seen him pitch great for others though...he has a seperate thread here about that. found aramis ramairez has a very hard time apporaching that obp, even in a seeming glove fit like wrigley.

With any new season/set of cards- there will be players who seem to consistently outperform, underperform their cards
my disappointments- Clemens (who is no better than mist 6-7 mill pitchers), Smoltz- getting hammered in 2 leagues, Konerko- gets a few homers but is barely at the Mendoza line, Glaus (see Konerko) and to my shock- Mr Strat himself Abreu- not meeting expectations in 3 leagues for me.

As far as overperformers- one in particular though I'm afraid by mentioning him -he'll start tanking.... Donnelly who in Petco (after 57 games) is 3-0-8 after 23 appearances (35 inn) with a 0.55 WHIP and a zero ERA

Hafner and Ryan Howard. In PNC Hafner is hitting .242 with a .320 OB and not many doubles. His homers are about right. Howard in Citizen's Bank has only 3 homers in 67 AB. He's hitting only .238. Only 4 AB have been against lefties. Of course 67 AB isn't that much of a sample.

im with ya glennglenn, yet to see knoerko do anything for anyone, and ryan howard's numbers have been dismal even though the league im in he's platooning, and in a hitter's park! (ofcourse i would agree with you, you keep drafting everyone i want in our current live draft) clemens as I mentioned above, IS about a 7m dollar guy in terms of his production. as for utley, he's actually leading a league in hitting in one im in!
