MLB Trivia (featuring a 1969 player)

Postby Risden » Sun Apr 16, 2006 10:28 am

I saw this trivia question yesterday and it both surprised :o and stumped me :? (it would have been pretty easy with Google or Yahoo - can you give the correct answer without "researching"?):

Which MLB Player has scored the most career runs WITHOUT ever having scored 100 in any single season? Hint: he is included in the 1969 SOM Catalog.

I have no idea without researching it. It would have to be a player that had a long career and was a good player. It is probably an all-star player that did not have a great OBP, was not a huge HR hitter and/or did not play on good offensive teams. Since it surprised you it must be a very famous player.

A lot of players fit the above criteria but I'll take a guess anyway.

How about Brooks Robinson? I'm sure that is wrong but it is my guess.

I'll go with Billy Williams since he played every game.

At least I was on the right track. Aparicio's career OBP was .311 and he was obviously not a HR hitter.

Hey, I just checked Brooks Robinson's career stats to see how bad of a guess I made and it turns out it wasn't a bad guess after all! Brooks never scored 100 runs and ended up with 1,232 career runs scored.

Another 69' trivia question? Don't answer this if you were in past 69 leagues with me, we've already had it.

Who is the only player to have played with BOTH the Seattle Pilots and the Seattle Mariners??
