Opinions on my first strat o team please?

Kings, In My Opinion you have a wee bit much slotted to your pitching. You are close to the 40 Mil, I usually gravitate closer to 30 (28-29).

Have you checked out the "newbie advise thread" over at in the Strategy Forum? Lots of good stuff there that helped me tons getting started.

I think the way you are going about it is the best way, if you have any questions ask away, sure a good ol' fashioned vet will drop by with good input. 8)

All best of luck

Thanks for all the help. Unfortunately I don't see much hitting on the waiver wire at this point that impresses me. Looks like I'll take my chances on pitching and hope my offense can put up a few runs. Thanks again.

I'm damn sure there is some hitting left. Really don't waste that money on Harden, get some bigger bats in there!!!

Drop Harden, upgrade Aurilia to L Castillo, and maybe upgrade on of you LF, RF or 1b to someone better (Crisp?).

another option is to drop harden and pu mark ellis either way drop harden you have a 4 man staff you are just wasting your money and right now you dont have a 2nd baseman on the team

after you drop harden for a 2nd baseman I would also think about dropping some of your starters for cheaper guys and upgrading your of. outside of ortiz you really dont have a lot of pop

I agree, I checked the FAs last night in berce after reading your post kings (re:no hitting available). Also thought of Ellis ungrading defense and getting some offense. But Aurilia is your choice, who knows maybe you want him for his clutch, but my point was this: here in the boards you get some really good advise, but ultimately it's your choice and your team, if you really feel like you don't have any offensive choices that really jump at you (I really like Haffner's card BTW, Castillo, Ellis, Mike Sweeney -if you want the +clutch) and you want to shut down the other teams with pitching try getting some really good defense along with it, Castillo would be tons of help there.

But, obviously, you have a pretty good idea of what you are doing, you are doing much better than me with my first team.

Other than the roster, how are you doing with any of the other stuff, are you cool with defense ratings, catcher's arm and pitcher's HLD and all of that? Are you cool with the settings in the player's cards and the manager settings?

Any Qs you have just drop 'em around here.

All best of luck, and welcome to SOM-OL

Wait a tic, you mentioned waiver wire, was that a figure of speech or are you in pre-waivers? (which would explain why so many good otions there)

If you are in pre-waivers, set 'em good kings because if you think there's nothing out there NOW, wait until about 4-5 hours after waivers run, then you'll really find nothing there.
