Do you by any chance have your base running set on "very aggressive?" I've had weird things like that happen in the past, and concluded the setting was the culprit in those cases.

It strikes me that it doesn't take much for this to be a good percentage play. The next batter would have been Alan Trammell, facing Gene Nelson. In that situation, only about 32% of the time is Tram going to avoid making an out and ending the inning. So if Lake was 1-7 to make it home, then it was the best play, in the abstract.

That said, even if it is the proper percentage play, most people do tend to play a little more risk averse when they're down TEN RUNS. :?

We had that happen - at first we thought it was simply a throw home - after reviewing all the options (I think it was Tommie Agee) our decision was he did indeed circle the bases but missed home - the ball being lost in the outfield - upon the presentation of the ball the pitcher walked over to Agee's dugout and calmly tagged him out.

The fracus that followed was "Brett-like"
Also the lead runner scooped up an overzealous honorary batboy further confounding the issue.

When there is an outfielder with a defensive rating of 4 and the play is to that fielders X factor, and a 1 comes up on the 20 sided dice, then it is possible to stretch the triple into an inside the park homerun. (This is how Wills gets an occasional HR). Lake's speed is a 9, 2 outs adds 2 more which makes 11, plus or minus the outfielders arm rating, then the 20 sided dice is tossed again and if within Lakes running, it's a HR. If not, he is out.
Note of interest, we only know this happens when the player is out. If he is safe, it just says HR and we just assume it was hit over the wall.
