March Madness Bracket 4- The curse of Don Mattingly

Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Be careful what you say Mr. Haney...

Those Cinderella Men, who probably are "shabby scrub girls", are the lowest seed in the bracket and just happen to have the best record in the bracket. It's amazing the panic they're causing in Bracket 4 - the Hatters and TEAM GOMEZ are already on their second try at a starting rotation, Raines is already on the trading block. I'm afraid to see what drastic changes they'll make when Gary Pettis starts heating up!

You're right, I should be more careful. I already made a mistake. Bella's Cinderella's are not a tranvestite team. It's a girls softball team that somehow was allowed to enter. :P

Very Perplexing

Postby Ducky » Sat Apr 22, 2006 1:33 pm

My Bat Daddies have started out 4-11, but shouldn't be that bad.

1-5 in one run games

0-3 in extra innings

Scored 70 runs given up 80

Team is 7th in the league in runs scored and 5th in WHIP, but 2nd last in earned runs allowed. In other words, my pitching staff is giving up too many runs once men reach the base.

I dropped Darrel Porter, his worst card, for Scott Bradley. I am not happy with the platoon of Cerone and Bradley, but do want to spend money on any of the other available catchers.

The relievers aren't helping. Only one reliever with an ERA under 4.00.

Poor Mario Soto is 0-3 with an ERA of 2.28 and 27 K's in 23.67 IP. I think he has faced Clemens twice.

This team has stolen an amazing 38 bases out of 50 attempts.

All in all, I have never had such a problem deciding what to do with a struggling team. Team BAVG is .282, the OBP is low for what my teams usually have, I believe around .335.

My players are all performing reasonably well, but the results haven't been good. I am afraid to really make too many alterations. I think a bit of luck and this team can easily be 7-8 or even 8-7. Think I will try to stand pat a little longer since winning a divison or making a wild card isn't the ulitmate goal in round one of the tournament.

It is hard to smack much when your team is sucking like my Waffles. My hitting is above average but my pitching is so bad it is really bringing me down. I am working on trying to find someone who can throw strikes with having the ball leave the park!

Oh to be .500 again!

I feel very lucky to be 3 games over 500. I'm minus 20 on run differential. If I can just get Dale Murphy going (hitting .212  ) I should be fine. Each day that passes though it seems more and more likely that i have his 1989 card. I'm happy with my production from Law, Lemon, Hojo, and Reuschel. This is the dangerous period for my so-so teams. Do I tinker and try to improve, or wait it out patiently and give the team some more time to produce?

well, the hitting is looking good.Mattingly is on a tear(17 for his last 27)and Brenly, well, how lucky can he be?pitching is kinda shaky like just about everybody elses...
playin the fightin irish tonight, with the best record in the league(24-12) lookin forward to it...i THINK we stack up well with them though...
we still got a long, long, way to go though...just advancing to the next round isn,t good enough for for manager Bambino Bootsmith.nope.he wants his cake and he wants to eat it too....
So after we take down the irish,be warned, steeltoe is coming to your town.....
