Big, I'm kind of reluctant to post this, but you invited constructive critique.
I like the song, both the melody and the instrumentation. The one thing that didn't register with me were the vocals, which seemed a tad bit flat. What I look for in vocals is feeling, even in reflective pieces. A good example is Neil Young. Even without a classic voice, he packs a lot of emotion into what he sings, even his quieter, folksy stuff. Back in my radio days, I used to hang out with the late Stevie Ray Vaughn, and one thing he told me was that the key to his vocals is that he [i:42f19b4744]felt[/i:42f19b4744] them, to the point that sometimes they were painful in his more bluesy material. Sing it from your heart, man ... don't leave emotions hidden below the surface, and I think you'll be surprised at just how dynamic this song becomes.
Don't misunderstand: I respect the hell out of anybody with the talent to produce good music, like what I heard from you. Good luck to you and I look forward to hearing the rest of the album.
