Question on Defensive Replacements

Postby sphilipp8 » Sun Apr 23, 2006 9:23 am

Is there a way to set your defensive replacements to bring in a defensive sub and move a player already in the game? For example, I'd like to start Phil Bradley in CF, have Gary Pettis come off the bench and play CF and move Bradley to LF. Is there a way to do this?

Unfortunately no. Or at least I haven't figured that one out yet.

Actually, you should be able to do this, but HAL only responds to one sequence under the defensive replacements heading on the manager settig page, and not the other. I don't have a current team where I'm doing this, so I'm not sure that my memory is right, but I think the way that works is to have the guy already in the game move to the new position, and then have the guy coming in replace him at the old position.

For your case, that would mean you set Bradley as the defensive replacement in LF and Pettis as the defensive replacement in CF, in that order. It may work the other way around, however (Pettis/CF, then Bradley/LF). Maybe somebody whose memory is better can correct me, or you could experiment, but one of those ways should work. I have done this more than once in the past. It helps to click the "remove for defensive replacement button" on the LF you want to replace, but I don't THINK you want to click that for Bradley.

I was thinking the same thing just last night. Hope someone can figure it out if it is possible.

The computer manager is capable of doing this. In defensive replacement slot #1, put Pettis, CF; in slot #2, put Bradley, LF. (It [i:b568397330]must[/i:b568397330] be in either defensive replacement slots 1 & 2, or 3 & 4.) And yeah, it wouldn't hurt to check "remove for defense" on the guy who is coming out of the game, either.

I was able to try the defensive replacements last night and it worked perfectly.

Thanks for the help.

You should also set the player you want replaced. So your starting LF woujld be set to be pulled and then Pettis and Bradley become the defensive subs.
