Semi-Finals last night, HAL pulls Hughson (who is pitching a shutoff) in favor of Todd Worrell. We go on to win the game, that's not my complaint.

I'm just wondering why he pulled Hughson who had only thrown 76 pitches and had a shutout working???

Oh yeah, and check out the quote from the boxscore:

"Tex Hughson(1-0) [b:1f63418c59]finally [/b:1f63418c59]bested his Throw Strikes opposite, Carl Erskine(0-1), by the score of 2 to 1."

Huh??? HAL pulled him after 5 innings, how did he [b:1f63418c59]FINALLY[/b:1f63418c59] best his opposite???

Did not pinch hit for him, and he was not fatigued...I see no reason why he would have pulled him..... :?

OK, how about this, Hugh gave up a lead off single, a lefty in Rolfe is coming up, since you are only leading 2-0, Worrell who is a 3L is brought in to face Rolfe.

Or HAL is just a dumb a$$.

Send this example directly to Bernie. He was collecting examples of HAL misusing a pitching staff.

I already know what the answer will be though...."because it was close"...that has been the pat answer I have seen for 90% of the questions regarding situations similar to this.

Who cares. He could have been pulled after 2 innings and that sorry offense would not have scored more than 1 run against your bullpen over the next 7 innings :x

Have no idea why Hughson was pulled, but I am hard-pressed to think of a Finals with 2 better managers.

Thanks Randy, but unfortunately only one of us is going to the Finals. And Boss tied up the series last night by sweeping me. It's down to one game now .......
