Can I trust HAL's judgement

I let HAL choose my lineups for the first series and he didn't play Dale Murphy choosing Pat Sheridan instead. Can I be reasonably sure I've got Murphy's bad card and dump him?

So am I! I once had the best Conception and HAL refused to play him preferring some 4 instead. I know he prefers to play power over singles hitters not caring at all about defense but this is a big time power hitter so it intrigues me.

Though maybe you're giving HAL too much credit? Maybe he's not quite that smart? :D :wink:

Actually, I think when HAL pinch hits or intentionally walks, that MIGHT have some significance. But when it comes to making a lineup--which involves weighing and balancing a variety of factors that might seem simple to a mere human--HAL appears to be reduced to gibbering idiocy.

I am against letting HAL set your lineups. What I will do form time to time is let HAL choose how to replace guys who get hurt and see how he shuffles lineup positions. Sometimes he will move my 4th place hitter down to 7th. Sometimes a sign of an outperforming card.

I take every possible manuever away from HAL that I can. Why would I want to let anything or anyone manage things that I can manage? :roll:

I think it's pretty useful information. One thing I would do is set the rest of your lineup with the exception of that position and see what Hal does. It's not perfect info, but it's a significant piece of the puzzle.
