BPHR - How many is too many?

Playing in Trop with 9 BPHR left and 6 right. Average in my division is 9.25 left & 9.75 right.

Would you consider Myers with 3 BPHR right & left as having too many?

What's your comfort level?

A pitcher with BPHR's on 2/12, I have no problems with.

When the BPHR's are on 3/11, I start worrying UNLESS the rest of the card is good.

Anything 4/10 or worse, I avoid.

I can live with 3 BPHR in neutral stadium like yours. Could go up to 4 in neutral parks with cheap pitchers. To some extent, I prefer a cheap pitcher with low whip and more BPHR than the opposite.

Obviously, I would prefer to have 3 BPHR on the right side than on the left side.

So lucky, you say that if 3 BPHR's are acceptable in a neutral park, so what would you say is OK in a pitcher's park? The problem I have is that in my pitcher's park many BP's may be ok but I could get hammered in extreme parks if there are any, as there normally are, in my league or division.

What I guess I am saying is how much should you take into account the other parks in your league/div when setting up a team?

I take an average of all parks and then parks in my division.

1) You play half your games at home so make sure you're set up well there. BPHR ok and probably encourage in Petco.


2) Win your division. If they slant hard right then make sure that if your pitcher does have BPHR they should be on the left.

3) If your league is predominately hitters parks then I try to make sure I have a couple home pitchers with BPHR's and a couple road pitchers without and 1 if not 2 that can pitch both.

I usually don't take [i:f926ef405b]that[/i:f926ef405b] much into consideration parks outside my division unless it's a predominanatly extreme [i:f926ef405b]league[/i:f926ef405b]such as a majority of Minute Maids, Petcos etc...

With my division besides the BPHR avergages and all of the bits discussed above I go through the LUs to see how many, if any, W hitters I'll be facing...there have been cases where the number of W hitters is actually much higher than thought of vs my staff in which case I don't worry so much about BPHRs, I figure the odds are much better.

In a few words: Try to figure out of the #rolls how many are likely to land on N hitters, then just see if it's a risk you're willing to run...you save some bucks that way that you can allocate to a no # BP which is slightly more of my preference.

In a pitcher park, I don't mind going with 8 BP HR, as long as the whip is low.
