When do you mess with a good thing?

Brain trust:

My Petco team has been performing well through the first half of the season, but I have a couple of glaring problems. Chiefly, I picked a bunch of stiffs in the right side of the batter's box(I face righties 79%). Secondarily I have few lefties in my lineup and little pop.

My division has a Bank One, a Kauffman, and a Minute Maid. In my league there are 4 other Petcos not including mine.

Any suggestions on tweaks, trades, or restructuring of contracts? I've won on great pitching, good d up the middle, and ekeing out one run games, so I'm loathe to upset whatever funky balance I do have.

Whether winning OR losing, I keep an eye on my L/R splits, both hitting and pitching.

Pitching wise, you are seeing an almost identical amount of R/L batters. You are doing very well pitching.

Hitting wise, you are seeing almost 4X the # of RH's as compared to LH's.
Hitting .230 w/ a .307 OBP ain't gonna cut it.

Obviously you know all of this.

I would look for a lefty bat or 2 that hits RH's really well. Granted, your park is going to lower their numbers, but guys like Delgado, Crawford, Walker, DeJesus and Sweeney would help.

Sheffield and Rowand are the guys that I would move.

BUT...

You are winning with what you've got. Maybe 1 move for DeJesus OR Walker would help. At this point, I wouldn't change out both of them.

Casey isn't helping you much either...Sweeney would help there.

First of all, when I have made changes I've regretted it. Secondly, if you drop a player you'll be losing 20% of thier salary. That is just too much to lose if you are looking at high value players. And finally, just becuase you pick up a guy that hits righties that doesn't mean he will. I have Tony Clark on my team. He is a 3R. Against lefties he's hitting .367 in 98 AB's. Against righties he's hitting .234 with 265 AB's.

But then maybe that's just Fenway. I've also got Tejada who's a 2R, hitting .406 vs L and .260 vs R. Conine is a 3R and hitting .314 vs L and .236 vs R. And as a team I'm hitting .331 vs L and .267 vs R.
