My latest Extreme Pitching experiment.

Still time for some tweaking, but let's see what this team does.

I hate doing these self-imposed themes sometimes. Really nice team still on the wire.

And now, batting cleanup....Cesar....GeROOOONNNNNNimo...

Sorry, Rick, but that offense is Kriff'ed up. You can get Forbes RP nearly as good as Hernandez for 1/3 the price. Gotta swap out 2 of those RP for Hall/Taylor/Fosnow types...just gotta.

That is a bit insane. I see that is your centennial Germaniacs squad. Celebrating with a bang? :D

lol, yeah, for my Germaniacs 100 I wanted to push the envelope just a little bit further than my last Extreme Pitching team.

Seen here.

http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/atg2/team/team_other.html?user_id=43930

This one only spend 62.64 on pitching. :D

I certainly didn't expect to have that one win 92.

With this team, I also wanted to see what would happen with some of the great nickle & nickle+ players like Leslie, Mcmillan, fox, etc, if they were given the chance to play a whole season.

Still need some tweaking, probably exchange Geronimo with Stanley, maybe, and some other tweaks to bump up the team speed, but hey, this should be fun.

Guys, I KNOW the pen is overkill  , that's the point! :D

I don't know why I do this to myself, I could blow up this team and put a probable playoff squad together likethis with what's on the wire, but how much fun would THAT be?

Well, can't you free up enough money to add Babe Adams as a 5th starter?

I think you will be better off with an outfield of Geronimo, Leibold and Red Murray. Red Murray can easily bat cleanup on this team and Leibold is a legit leadoff. I would downgrade to Marion at Ss to make $room if necessary although I like Concepcion's speed he still provides little offense and switch to Evers at 2B to get some offense.

In any case I would switch to Murray over JoJo and White to Evers - you can't afford a 10 runner with this offense, and postive clutch will be huge as it will take 2 outs to get a runner to second, you need people who can create it. The pitchers should be able to take care of the errors and your ERA won't suffer. Also I think you could switch Newhouser for Giusti and have Giusti set as your righty closer avoid lefties do not pitch before 8th and you may improve your relief some with a legit righty closer although Schultz will be OK.

A final thought I would have is McClain can be hot or cold from what I have seen, some great years and some truly bad years, I'd rather have Cicotte for my 4th starter on this team, even tho more money, the Giusti move could make that possible.

Here is a 50 Million team that uses some of these ideas for a light hitting club.

Thanks Charlie,

I know the lefty relievers is overkill, but I missed out on Garber in the draft. I like some of your suggestions. Moore's speed was one of the problem areas I was going to address. I have a feeling that Newhouser will be gone, I'll try to trade for Garber or Henke to balance my pen a bit. I could then upgrate to Cicotte. Missed out on Pfeister, he's who I really wanted. I suppose I could use Hubbel to get a lefty in the rotation.

Hmmm...

Rick, please reconsider.....

.....check out this team.....

http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/atg2/team/team_other.html?user_id=36609

It IS 100 MILLION, NO DH

But check out my rotation, its not much different than yours, and I only spent 4 bucks, or so, on 4 bullpen arms.

In the post-season, the bullpen was NOT USED!! (check that out too!)

And, no, you wont be able to afford Rogers, but, you do have the ability of getting, oh, say.....

Jim Rice for LF (dont laugh, he's awesome) I believe, he is the better of him and Sam, I would take Jim everytime over Sam. Tho both are great

Keep Hegan at catcher, his def, and free HRs will just be bonuses for less than a buck.

From Concepcion, I would go down to Crosetti.

Also, at 2b, I would go as cheap as possible for def. Those 43 errors could be a killer

With Sam and Jim in LF and RF, maybe a Dom Dimmagio could be had for CF.

Then, you would have bucko bucks to spend on 1b, and 3b

That would give you a bottom 3 of:

Hegan, Crosetti, and cheaper 2b (Franky White maybe?)

And a top 5 of:

Dom
Sam Rice
Jim Rice
HUGE 1b
Huge 3b

All dependant on you cutting loose on your bullpen though.

Just some food for thought is all.....

Thanks for the advice Leo, but I think you miss the point of this team. It's an EXTREME PITCHING team. I could easily put together a potential playoff team with what's on the wire, but I'll stay true to my self-imposed theme.

Here's what I would do if I were advising another player in my shoes, who asked for help. Drop Mclain for Kaat, change my bullpen to Miller, Humphreys, Giusti and Bahnsen,
Get an OF of Dawson, Jones and Valentine/furillo (or maybe keep Rice,he would have to lead off), put Cooper at 1B, and Collins at 3B, pick up Fernandez at SS and probably keep Evers at 2B (or I might be able to afford a White/Whitaker platoon), and pick up Gibson for C.

All are available.

That's an 85+ win team.

But how much fun would THAT be?
